Portable Trailer with Wavetronix SS 125 (HD) – Radar Vehicle Sensing Device, and Solar Panel

Description

This event shall consist of furnishing solar powered trailers with mast mounted Wavetronix SS 125 (HD), radar vehicle sensing device. The main purpose of the Trailer will be to allow the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to collect portable non-intrusive vehicle data at various locations using the mast mounted Wavetronix SS 125 (HD).

Specification Requirements

All ITS trailers shall be crashworthy as defined by NCHRP 350 per the dates noted by the FHWA. These specifications cover the general materials and miscellaneous hardware (equipment).

All materials used in the original fabrication or assembly of the items listed below shall be new and unused, shall be of the best quality and workmanship, shall be the best standard product of a manufacturer regularly engaged in the production of this type of equipment and shall be of the manufacturer's latest approved design.

Section 1.1 Trailer

The unit shall be a portable trailer that meets the flowing requirements.

Trailer Frame / The frame should be constructed of structural steel tubing and channel. The unit shall be of sufficient strength and design to adequately support the weight of the entire unit.
Storage/Battery Box / 16 Ga steel, or high impact polyethylene, with battery lock down assy., battery access panel, vented and lockable included with lock.
Must include separate two (2) compartments; one for batteries and one for equipment storage.
Stabilizers / Shall include four (4) laterally extendable outriggers constructed of galvanized steel tubing. Each outrigger shall extend approximately 30” from its stowed position, and shall include drop leg, top wind screw jack with 15” drop extension.
Mast / Retractable mast shall consist of concentric sections of square galvanized tubing, that can be raised by means of galvanized wire rope
to a minimum height of 20 feet from the adjacent ground.
The top segment shall include a mounting bracket for the
Wavetronix SS 125 (HD) Radar Vehicle Sensing Device.
Mast Lifting Mechanism / Cable winch, and lockable include with lock.
Solar Panel Mounting / Shall include an apparatus to allow for placement and positioning of solar panel in desired position.
Shall be adjustable from 0° - 270°minimum rotation.
Shall have a securing mechanism to secure solar panel during transport.

Finish / The trailer shall have grease and wax removed prior to one coat of Primer and one coat of Federal Standard 525 Highway Safety Orange.

Section 1.2Power

The unit shall be equipped with fourmaintenance free deep cycle batteries and solar panel. The unit shall continuously operate for two months without sunlight.

The two lower corners of the solar panel shall be covered with foam corner guards to protect users from head injuries.

Section 2.1: Radar Vehicle Sensing Device

A Radar Vehicle Sensing Device (RVSD) shall be installed and made operational. A RVSD detects vehicles by transmitting electromagnetic radar signals through the air. The RVSD must be a Wavetronix SS 125 (HD) –Radar Vehicle Sensing Device, which is compatible with existing MnDOT RVSD systems and data formats.

Section 2.2: Communications

RVSD Multiple Communication Ports. The RVSD shall have an RS-485 port and an RS-232 port, and both ports shall communicate independently and simultaneously. The RVSD shall have the ability to allow a laptop computer to be connected to the device for sensor setup and data downloading.

RVSD Vehicular Event Data. The RVSD shall be capable of providing data for each detection event across the serial ports.

Section 3.0: Operating Temperature Range

The unit shall be operational within temperature ranging from –40° F to 160° F.

Section 4.0: Warranty

The bidder shall warranty all units. The units shall operate satisfactorily for a period of 12 months following the final acceptance by the MN/DOT project manager. In the event of unsatisfactory operation, the bidder shall make repairs and replace defective parts with new parts of equal or better quality. The twelve (12) month warranty shall restart once repairs have been completed and accepted. All costs incurred in correcting unsatisfactory operation shall be paid by the bidder.

Section 5.0: Shipping

Shipping shall be included in price quoted. Shipping destination shall be within the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area with exact shipping destination given prior to shipping.
