Handcrafted art a special gift

The default Valentine’s Day gift choices are chocolate, flowers and dinner. Nice options, but not very creative. And certainly none of them will last very long!

But a hand-sewn quilt, a handcrafted necklace or a handmade piece of pottery will evoke warm memories for the recipient for years to come.

Buying handmade benefits local small businesses

Buyers of handcrafted items not only experience the joy of giving a unique gift to their object of their affection, they are also helping local small businesses.

The Seattle area is home to thousands of artists and craftspeople who pour equal parts love and skill into their chosen form of creative expression. And as homeowners, parents, volunteers and consumers, they also are an important part of our local economy.

They make and spend money, supporting the companies that employ their fellow Seattleites. And in light of recent economic events, it has never been more important to support the small businesses in our community.

Artisan Gift Show benefits local nonprofit

A portion of the booth fees paid by each artist will be donated to Eastside Domestic Violence Program, (EDVP) an organization that has been providing domestic violence services since 1982.

One of Washington state’s largest domestic violence service providers, EDVP works with local and regional human service agencies to provide services in east and north King County to those who have experienced physical, emotional or sexual abuse. The organization also strives to prevent domestic violence through advocacy, education and support.
