Job Description
Responsible to: TTVSBoard of Directors
Reporting to: Exercising for Mobility Chair of Trustees
Salary: NJC scale point 23£21,057 pro rata per annum = £11,382actual
Length of Contract: Until 28th February 2022
Hours of Work: 20hours per week, mainly during normal working hours, though some flexibility may be required to suit the needs of the post.
Holidays: 23 days pro rata plus 8 Bank Holidays pro rata plus 2 additional non statutory days between Christmas and New Year pro rata.
Location: Parkhouse Centre, Bude and home based
Background: Exercising for Mobility was established in 2010 and offers free social exercise classes for adults with a disability or a long term health problem. The charity has successfully secured a further 5 years funding from the Lottery Reaching Communities Fund to develop and strengthen the weekly social exercises classes which take place on a Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon and are delivered from the Parkhouse Centre in Bude.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is responsible for the day to day delivery and management of Exercising for Mobility and will work closely with the Chair of Trustees and Treasurer. The Project Manager will work within Bude and the surrounding area to:
- Support a range of social exercise activities
- Organise and facilitate transport to improve access to services
- Recruit, support and coordinate volunteers
- Manage the project team
- Monitor progress against Lottery milestones and outcomes
- Promote and market the project and its services
- Raise additional funds for the project through community fundraising and grant applications
- Network with other agencies
Key Activities:
Support a range of social exercise activities including transport
- Organise and coordinate activity instructors and volunteers to deliver social exercise activities
- Organise and coordinate transport to improve access to social exercise activities
- Ensure all activities are risk assessed
- Identify gaps in services and activities and support the development of new social exercise classes
Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Support
- Recruit volunteers to provide direct services when required.
- Respond appropriately to the needs of volunteers, identifying training needs and signposting to suitable courses.
- Ensure that volunteers are appropriately screened and that risk assessments are carried out where required
Project Management
- Provide regular 1:1 support to the project team which includes activity instructors, a Project Assistant and a driver and hold a monthly team meeting.
- Ensure that the trustees are kept informed of all project activities and any issues requiring their attention and provide regular written update reports
- Liaise with the Treasurer over project expenditure and keep the project within budget
Monitoring and Evaluation
- To work with the Trustees and project team to develop a project performancemonitoring framework – including decisions about appropriate tools to measure how far the project is meeting its stated outcomes.
- Keep accurate and up to date records and complete reports to funders and any other reporting requirements of the project
Promotion and Marketing
- Advertise Exercising for Mobility services using a range of marketing methods
- Deliver presentations to other groups and agencies
- Keep the website up to date.
Fundraising
- Organise local fundraising events, including a monthly coffee morning
- To write grant applications, as needed
Networking and Partnership Working
- Develop and maintain strong links with relevant local service providers.
- Ensure there are strong cross referral mechanisms between this project and other relevant groups and agencies.
General
- Ensure work is carried out to agreed standards and targets;
- Represent TTVS and Exercising for Mobility in a positive and professional manner at meetings and events;
- Work within TTVS core values, current policies and good practice
- Undertake any training that may be necessary.
- Take on other tasks and responsibilities that may arise as the work develops, and that are appropriate to the level of the post.

- A good standard of general education
- A track record of training around volunteer recruitment and management
Experience /
- At least two years work experience within a community / health and social care setting.
- Experience of recruiting, managing and supporting staff and volunteers
- Experience of facilitating good partnership working and of working in partnership.
- Experience of producing written reports.
- Experience of producing publicity material.
- Experience of successful fundraising, including eventsand grant applications
- Experience of establishing or administering systems for monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience of project management.
