Eligibility and Acceptance

All 2L and 3L students are eligible to participate in this program. Students graduating at the end of the Spring or Summer terms must have completed all required courses prior to the start of the Semester in Olympia Program.

Tuition

Tuition for the Olympia Program is charged on a per-credit basis at the same tuition rate as the Seattle campus. The tuition due dates, policies and refund schedule described in the Student Handbook apply to Olympia Program.

Syllabus and Itinerary Changes

The course syllabus and itinerary are subject to modification and change by Seattle University School of Law. Every reasonable effort will be made to operate the program as planned, but alterations may still occur after final syllabi and itineraries are sent. Any changes to the syllabus or itinerary will be communicated to participants as soon as reasonably possible.

Externships

A variety of externships will be available in Olympia. You will apply for an externship through Seattle University School of Law’s Externship Office. Please contact Professor Gillian Dutton at: . Information about externships can be found on the School of Law’s externship site: Please note that only students who have completed 60 credits are eligible to complete a full-time externship. Please check the externship site for additional information regarding eligibility requirements. Note also that different externship sites have different application deadlines.

Experiential Credits

Please pay careful attention to the limits on experiential learning credits (includes both externships and clinic credits). Students in the top 50% of the class may earn up to 21 experiential learning credits. Students in the top 50% of the class may earn up to 15 experiential learning credits, or with the permission of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, up to 21 experiential learning credits.

For students interested in relocated to Olympia for the semester, we will provide assistance with finding housing. However, we cannot guarantee the availability of housing.
