Pointscore
Internal competition, which offers swimmers the opportunity to swim all strokes and selected distances, gaining points for improving their previous best time, over 6 events.
All swimmers should enter regularly to monitor their own progress, with times recorded and used for selection to represent GASC at events throughout the year.
The competition is run in accordance with ASA Law and therefore an ideal training ground for young swimmers before they enter external competitions with the club.
No entry fee.
Open to all full members and New Mills only members.
Club Championships
The club Championships are held annually, with all swimmers expected to take part.
Age group events up to 8 years, 9/10, 11/12, 13-16 for full GASC members.
Open events are for All GASC membership categories and 17 years and over GASC members.
Entry fee £1 per event, max 4 events.
Coaches challenge (style gala)
An event that tests what swimmers have learnt in training.
There are 2 sessions, Development and junior squad/senior squad
Swimmers will be asked to perform the 4 strokes and 4 pre-selected skills.
Marks will be awarded for correct technique.
No entry fee.
Open to full members and New Mills only members in Development and Junior squad.
Postal gala
An hour long event where swimmers try to swim as many lengths as they can.
There is a club competition- entry fee £2 and a National competition- entry fee £6
For all full members and New Mills only members.
Sprint Gala
25m races and team relays.
No entry fee.
Open to all GASC members over the age of 9
Christmas Fun Gala
All fun races, run on the last session before Christmas. The winner is the team with the best sportsmanship and team spirit.
No entry fee.
Open to all full members and New Mills only members.
