Parent Biography

due: May 26-29, 2015

Objective:Interview one of your parents/guardians or grandparent in English. Then write a biography of the individual in Japanese using the language you learned this year. Then summarizing in your own words, you will introduce in Japanese the person you interviewed in more than 3 minute to an audience using only a picture. You will also need to answer questions about the person asked by each member of the audience.

Standards:Interpersonal: Benchmark3.1.1: Verbal Communication: Use appropriate vocabulary to echange opinions and pesonal perspectives. Presentational Benchmark3.3.1: Oral Presentation: Use appropriate language to present creatice and informative pieces. Benchmark3.3.2: Wirtten Presentation: Write paraphrases, summaries, and descriptions.

Criteria:

Written version must be a minimum of 4 paragraphs (a paragraph is 5 sentences or more)

Paragraph 1 must include name, place of birth, family information

Paragraph 2 must include things about school life, names of schools attended, sports or other activities

Paragraph 3 must include things about wife(wives), marriage, current family information & occupation, places of residence

Paragraph 4 must include hobbies, dreams, and future desires

Write most of your sentences using grammatical structures learned at level 3, with not much level one or two. Include the following words:

Present in more than three [3] minutes, a summary of the information you wrote in your introduction. No notes will be allowed, and no script should be written, but you may practice ideas and sentences in order so that the oral presentation will flow. Questionsasked by the students and teacher will be expected to answer all questions in Japanese. Every student must ask a different [no repeats for other presenters] question to each person presenting.

the next. Spelling of hiragana and kanji is correct. Enough information is

provided to understand what the person is like. Written characters are easy

to read and not hastily written. Paper written on is of good quality. Performance is interesting, and an actualprinted photois provided of the individual.

Meets the StandardAll criteria above included. Each sentence & paragraph must lead

(100%)smoothly to the next. Spelling of hiragana and kanji is correct. Enough

information is provided to understand what the person is like. Written

characters are easy to read and not hastily written. Paper written on is of

good quality. An actual printed photo is provided of the individual.

Approaching the StandardAll but 1 criteria above included. Each sentence & paragraph must lead

(60%)smoothly to the next. Some spelling errors of hiragana and kanji. Some

information is provided to understand what the person is like. Written

characters are somewhat hard to read or look hastily written. Paper written

on is of good quality. A photo is provided of the individual.

Not Met the StandardOnly some of the criteria above included. Each sentence & paragraph must

(30%)lead smoothly to the next. Some spelling errors of hiragana and kanji.

Not enough information is provided to understand what the person is like.

Written characters are somewhat hard to read or look hastily written. Paper

written on is of good quality. A photo is provided of the individual.

This project will be performed only once. The grade you receive will be one of many ways to pass the semester. Every attempt to practice should be made prior to the presentation, by including all the necessary information. Performance will be presented in front of the class

on the assigned day for your final.

NO ONE WILL RECEIVE A GROUP GRADE, YOU WILL BE ASSESSED INDIVIDUALLY, BUT REALIZE THAT A CONVERSATION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE PEOPLE ALWAYS GOES AT LEAST BOTH WAYS.
