Adrian: officer report, good turn out, excited for the year

Jennifer advisor: vice provost, will be in the back and quieter. May more more announcements this year. Open to questions/ advice whenever

Adrian: wants more discussion this year, tell people to come this committee! We are gonna also vote on university boards and elections

Adrian: finishing officer reports and wants everyone to introduce yourself and have them say what they want to make a change about on campus.

Hanna: first meeting, first time as vice chair

Sydney: first meeting as new position, no report.

II.  Approval of Minutes

Victoria: motion to approval of the minutes on may 17 meeting.

III.  New Business

i.  BILL 2018-017: A BILL TO FUND KU PHARM & TOX GSO LIBRARY

Motion to move elections to top of agenda

Wants a student library, with everything you need. Create a department set so everything has access. Wants used books

Hannah:question about the books

Victoria: how many students in department and how will they be able to access?

Adrian: asked how much they need?

One time charge for semester.

Motion to call a question on bill 2018-017.

Bill passes.

ii.  BILL 2018-018: A BILL TO FUND CERAMICS CLUB

Antonio: Bill written for ceramics club, for $2600. Celebrity from georgia university, ask questions why he is working. Attracts a lot of people.

Josh: how many ppl to event?

Adrian: finance thinks it’s a fine amount.

Properly moved and seconded. No abstentions

iii.  BILL 2018-019: A BILL TO FUND THE STUDENT VETERANS OF AMERICA (SVA)

General funding bill to student veterans, $100 request. asking for peoples support. so moved. no absentions. bill passes!

Bill 2018-20

Invited to speak at veterans day events on Nov 4, and he will speak on the 9th summerfield. So moved, seconded. no absentions, voting. no abstintions, bill passes

Motion to move bill 2018-301 to top of agenda. passes

iv.  BILL 2018-301: A RESOULUTION CALLING FOR UNIVERSITY SENATE TO AMEND ARITCLE I SECTIONS III AND IV OF UNIVERSITY SENATE RULES AND REGULATIONS TO GRANT STUDENTS EXCUSED ABSENCES IN THE EVENT OF A MEDICAL CRISIS

Preserves original language but adds some, asking them to hold a vote.

Josh question: does a teacher define a medical crisis?

Josh: motion to call a question, victoria second

Vote: no absentions. bill passes.

Motion to move bill 2018-017 to top of agenda.

IV.  University Boards and Committees Elections

a.  Campus Fee Review Subcommittee (2)

2 seats, fee review who sets that. student fees.

Josh nominated Victoria, and she accepted. (1 nomination) Tray nominated.

Tray and Victoria were so moved to be new campus fee review sub committee

b.  Legal Services for Students Advisory Board (1)

Oversees legal services, meets twice a semester

Nominations: Catherine. So moved and second.

c.  Recreation Advisory Board (1)

Erin nominated Sydney Summers, acclimated: Sydney Summers.

d.  Student Safety Advisory Board (1)

Erin nominated Libby. Libby was acclimated

e.  University of Kansas Athletic Corporation Board (1)

Sydney nominated Reaghan. Reagan as been acclimated

f.  Friends of the Lied Series Executive Committee (1)

Josh nominated charlie & brody. Brody nominated Joel

Joel executive member and Body member to friends of the lied. Seconded, acclimated.

g.  Friends of the Lied Series Board (2 representatives, serving two-year overlapping terms)

Josh: motion to move bills 2018-019, bills 2018-020 no abstentions.

h.  Student Survey Board (1)

Adrian: Survey once a semester on student senate

No nominations, moved to next week.

Move 2018-018 to top of agenda. no abstentions.

i.  Newspaper Readership Program Advisory Board (1)

UVK, oversees newspaper, meets as needed! Josh nominated Victoria, she accepted.

Victoria is new member of the board.

j.  Athletics Sports Advisory Board (1)

Michael Kat nominated. Michal has been acclimated

k.  Student Environmental Advisory Board (1)

Board works on environmental protection. Michelle hoax nominated, and beck nominated. Michelle speech: wants to incorapate sustainability into art. very big on sustainability. Beech speech: get more ppl to recycle.

Regan talking about michelle: seems qualified.

Becca: served on this committee last year, very involved

Michelle won the vote.

i. Status of Minorities Subcommittee (1)

Cortland and Jasmine nominated.

Cortland: very involved on campus, VP of GSP. honor program and a senator. loves to get involved and good at it. talked about minorities retention rate in KC at his summer job. wants to be a senator.

Jasmine: freshman studying political science. wants to be on the board since there are limiting funding for those programs.

Cortland: would be a great rep, has had a lot of experience.

Voting on the candidates: won.

V.  Announcements

Jennifer: harvey hurricane survivors can defer there bills for awhile.

Victoria: here a young state legislate at 7PM.

Libby: deadline for freshman elections is for tomorrow & freshman internship program.

Adrian: we will be voting on a UA associate senator next week! Become a actual senator, and tell university affairs what happened at full senate.
