DUST FALL-OUT MONITORING PROGRAMME
FALLOUT DUST REPORT NUMBER 58
1 Marchto 1 April 2017
1Introduction
This report covers a 31-day period. The buckets were changed once in this period.
GPS positions and photos of the units are recommended for future reports.
The DustWatch equipment in use has been designed specifically to measure particulate matter in the atmosphere that is smaller than 100micron.
For more information regarding the methodology and the legislative requirements please consult the DustWatch manual which is available on request or from the mine. Please contact to receive a copy of the manual. The DustWatch manual has been updated to include a quality control section that can be used during the bucket changing and filtering process.

3Comment on the results
There are three units installed at Minrite. (GPS positions will be added when available.)
- The Golden Grape unit, the
- Engine Depot unit, and the
- Salvage Yard unit.
The fall-out dust standards from National Dust Control Regulations, 2013.
Residential area / D < 600 / Two within a year, not sequential months.
Non-residential area / 600 < D < 1200 / Two within a year, not sequential months.
Table 1: Acceptable Dust Fall Rates – National Dust Control Regulations, 2013.
The result from the Golden Grape DustWatchunit was 262_mg/m2/day.
The Engine Depot unit yielded 74_mg/m2/day in this period.
The Salvage Yard unit yielded227_mg/m2/day in this period.
The results are below 1200_mg/m2/day and are not a concern to Minrite.
The compliance table for 2017 is shown below.
Unit name / Residential or Non-residential Area / Applicable Compliance - Dustfall rate (D) (mg/m2/day) – averaged over 30 days. / Non-compliant or compliant. Two within a year, not sequential months.Golden Grape / (Non-residential) / 600 < D < 1200 / Compliant in this period and for the year. No exceedance.
