PHASE LEADER

KEY STAGE 2

As members of the school’s Senior Management Team, Phase Leaders have delegated responsibility, by the Headteacher, for the key Ofsted areas within their phase. They are directly responsible to the Deputy Headteacher, and ultimately the Headteacher, for the fulfilment of whole school and Key Stage Policies and procedures. They are also required to carry out the duties of a teacher as set out in part 7 of the Schoolteachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (2014).

Responsibilities of the Phase Leader:

·  To be fully supportive and to demonstrate a unified and positive approach to all SLT policies and decisions.

·  Role model for other staff within the school, exemplifying the standards and expectations required.

·  Phase Meetings – organising and leading regular programme of meetings following the agenda set and agreed by SMT. Additionally to organise and lead phase specific meetings, as and when necessary.

·  Co-ordination and monitoring of Planning, Assessment and moderation for the Phase, in line with school policy. Working with curriculum leaders, monitoring match of content to the National Curriculum expectations.

·  Co-ordination of the assessment, moderation and submission of statutory assessment data as required.

·  Co-ordination of Phase Timetabling, to ensure curriculum breadth, balance and effective use of taught time – matching agreed whole school timing allocations.

·  Monitoring Standards within the Phase. Analysis of data, scrutiny of work samples and classroom observations on agreed criteria.

·  Management of Phase Resources – undertaking annual stock check to assist whole school ordering and purchasing.

·  Special Educational Needs – Liaison with S.E.N.D. and Gifted and Talented Postholders regarding Phase issues.

·  Liaison with School Curriculum and Leadership Postholders regarding all areas of responsibility detailed above to ensure that effective channels of communication exist between classroom teachers and leaders.

·  Senior Team Meetings – Attendance at meetings and submission of relevant agenda items and Phase reports.

·  Pastoral care, attendance and behaviour management issues within the phase, in line with the school’s agreed behaviour policy.

Phase Leaders will receive 0.1 non-contact time for the specific duties outlined above. When necessary, additional time will be allocated.
