Performance Task Scenario for List, Sort, Label, and Write Strategy
Goal:
· Your goal is to compare and contrast characteristics used to classify stars.
Task 1:
1. Place the cards on the table.
2. Discuss the possible connections between the terms on the cards.
3. Organize the cards into categories with terms in the same category related to one another. Each category may have a different number of cards.
4. Use a sticky note to label each category with a title that reflects the connection or relationship between the terms.
5. Read the passage and discuss the arrangement of terms.
6. Revisit your arrangement of terms and titles. Do any cards need to be rearranged? Do any of the titles need to be modified? Make any changes at this time.
7. Copy the lists of terms with the title of each category in your journal.
8. Write an explanation or rationale in your process journal describing the connection or relationship between the terms.
9. Shuffle the terms and place in the resealable plastic bag.
Task 2:
1. On the Task 2: Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram page, label each category with the appropriate label.

c. Main sequence
d. Supergiant
2. Use the data in the table to plot the stars in the H-R diagram.
