FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Family Fun Night was a huge success. Families gathered at the club house for a fun-filled night of games, swimming, food and tons of fun! Wonderful childhood memories with new friends were created, and old ones rekindled. Our PTO and all of theamazing volunteers put a tremendous amount of time, energy, and heartinto this event. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity for our families to celebrate a brand new school year. Big shout out to Mr. Jones, our music teacher, for volunteering to DJ at this familyevent. Thank you Theiss PTO for another successful family event.
Veterans Day honors all veterans, but focuses on the contributions of living veterans. Theiss will honor the Veterans in a special tribute on November 11at 1:45. Veterans are invited to attend this recognition as a special thank you for serving our country and to provide our students with a better understanding of the significance of Veterans Day.
BEARKAT BASH VICTORY
The 15th Annual Bearkat Bash 1K, 5K Run took place on Saturday, September19, 2015, on the grounds of Klein High School. The popular event benefits the KHS Track & Cross Country team.Our marvelous students, parents and staff brought home the district trophy againby having the greatest number of participants in the district. Many of our students, teachersand parents finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the event. Thank you to Coach Wheeler and Coach Nissen for their support. Kudos to Coach Nissen for promoting this activity as her enthusiasm was contiguous!
DESTINATION IMGINATION
Destination Imagination (DI) is an enrichment programthat provides opportunities for students toutilize diverse approaches in applying 21st century skills and creativity.
The Destination Imagination program encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges whileincorporating STEM(science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the arts and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. The Theiss teams, coached by Mr. Leith, Mrs. Austin, Mrs. White and Mrs. Jennings will showcase their solutions at the regional tournament. Congratulations to the students that earned a place on a Destination Imagination teams.

VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT
Attention All School Volunteers! If you volunteer at the school and are an ExxonMobil employee, spouse, child or annuitant, you can participate
in the ExxonMobil Volunteer Invot card. lvement Program (VIP). For every 20 hours of volunteer activities you do at the school, ExxonMobil will award a $500 grant to the school for much-needed equipment, supplies and educational opportunities. Each employee is eligible for four grants per year. If you qualify and would like forms or information about the program, please contact Exxon at 281-654-5745.

Keep those Box Tops coming! Mrs. Claus, our Box Top coordinator, is collecting these and sending these in for our school. This is an incredibly easy way to support our school. Thank you Mrs. Claus for leading this activity!
DIVAS AND DONUTS
Our sweet moms and their children enjoyed Divas and Donuts this year. The event was a tremendous success as lots of smiling children were spotted by their amazing moms. Thank you PTO for sponsoring this event.
LIBRARY
We started our Bluebonnet Award reading program and an informational letter went home in Wednesday folders several weeks ago. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students are encouraged to participate. The Texas Library Association chooses 20 new books each year to put on the list, and students who read at least five by mid-January will be able to attend our Bluebonnet party and vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book. We have multiple copies of the books in the library, they can also be found at the public library and in bookstores. We should have several of the titles available at our upcoming Book Fair. LIBRARY NEWS
Thank you so much for making our Scholastic Book Fair perfect! The fair was a fun time for all who attended. We want to extend a special thanks to our volunteer coordinator, Mrs. Allbritton. For approximately 20 years, she has graciously set up our book fair and provided training for all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the book fair a success.
STAR READER
We launched our Star Reader program during an assembly in September. As of today, over 40 Theiss Tigers have earned their star reader t-shirts. In addition to the informational letter that came home, you may access information about our program at home by going to:

ART MINI MUSEUM
The students enjoyed the Egyptian, Roman, and Greekart exhibit sponsored by the Klein volunteer mini museum program. Special thanks to Mrs. Haynes for organizing the event for our entire school and Mrs. Shin for leading the discussions and dressing up for the exhibit. Our own Susan Lorehn started this program over 15 years ago for Klein ISD.
RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN Our counselor planned an exciting Red Ribbon Campaign for our Tigers. Our theme for this year’s campaign is:

BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB
By choosing a book from our special shelf of new library books, a student can have his/her own "birthday book" in the Theiss library. The cost is $12.00 and the book will have a special nameplate in the front with the child's name and date of birth on it. Your child will also receive a pencil and a bookmark and will be recognized during our morning announcements.
