About Us / The Ebling Library is the health sciences library of University of Wisconsin.We are open to the public, but we primarily serve the health sciences schools, departments, centers, hospital and clinics at the University of Wisconsin.
We are located in the Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) at 750 Highland Avenue, Madison WI 53705, adjacent to the UW Hospital and WIMR.

The library itself houses computer workstations (72 dual boot iMacsfor patrons with Net IDs and 17 public Windowsworkstations), laser printers, and free scanners. The library also circulates 50 dual boot MacBookAirs(3-day period) for the UW community. Be aware that laptop users must present a valid UW ID + a second photo ID. We also have digital camcorders, cameras, audio recorders, projectors and several adapters!
The library also includes a conference roomand several reservable study rooms.

Access to our electronic resources is available to all from any computer on the UW network or UW wireless system. Patrons withactive UWNet IDscan access our electronicresources from anywhere in the world. At your fingertips are nearly all of the e-resources available across the UW-Madison campus.

Reference Services
Each year our team of expert librarians answer 2,500 reference questions, performs over 300 literature searches.
Our expert staff can save you time and effort. We answer quick reference questions such as verifying a citation or finding a statistic or work with you on in-depth questions when researching a health concern, preparing a grant proposal or journal publication. We can find a few key articles on a topic or pull together an exhaustive list of relevant article for a meta-analysis or systematic review.
Instruction Services
Each year our team of expert librarians conduct over 200 instructional sessions. These sessions cover several topics of interest to our clientele including:
  • Finding the best evidence in your discipline
  • Power searching in specific databases (PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, etc.)
  • Keeping up to date with the literature using database tools or apps
  • Data management
  • Public access compliance
