SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
William Cessford, CMA, FCMA
In 1966, Bill graduated fourth highest in his class of Business Administration at Red RiverCollege. Immediately after graduation, Bill went to work for The Great West Life Insurance Company as a Statistician and later with the Province of Manitoba from 1967 to 2003. .
In 1976 Bill became the Director of Money Management for the Province of Manitoba where he managed banking and short term borrowing and investing for the Province and has since retired from this position as of July 31st, 2003.
Bill was honoured with a Fellowship in The Society of Management Accountants of Canada in 1988. He is a founding member of the Cash Management Association of Manitoba and was the Treasurer and President of the Treasury Management Association of Manitoba. On a National level Bill has chaired the Education Committee of the Treasury Management Association responsible for developing educational opportunities for Treasury professionals across Canada. Bill Chaired a National Award Committee responsible for recommending individuals to the Treasury Management Association Board for recognition.
Bill was a member of the Red RiverCollege Alumni Committee for over 10 years. He served on the RRC Award Committee recommending alumni to the Board for recognition. Bill is a Past President of the Society of Management Accountants of Manitoba and has been actively involved with Society of over twenty-five years. Bill was a Moderator in the Strategic Leadership Program, a two – year program leading to the CMA designation for nine years with his module focusing on team skills, presentation skills, ethics and change management...
Bill has served as investment advisor to a number of Provincial organizations managing hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of various stakeholders.
Bill has spoken at a number of conferences here in Manitoba and Saskatchewan on the topics of ethics. Bill as well has authored a seminar for the University of Winnipeg Continuing Education on the topic of Ethics in the Workplace.
