La Biodiversidad de Costa Rica
Cost Rica is known for its biodiversity. In fact, it is one of the twenty countries with the greatest number of plant and animal species in the world. More than 500,000 species can be found in Costa Rica, representing nearly 5% of the total species estimated worldwide. Over 25% of Costa Rica’s land is protected, more than any other country on the earth. Many of these protected areas have been established as National Parks, Reserves and Wildlife Refuges, attracting visitors from all over the world with a curiosity about its unique and varied flora and fauna.
TASK: Choose one of Costa Rica’s National Parks or Reserves and make a poster that illustrates a variety of plants and animals that can be found there. You may work alone or with a partner.
In class today, research the area you have chosen and the types of unique plant and animal life can be found there.
Design a poster that includes:
- The name of the area you have chosen in neat, large lettering(3 puntos)
- A hand drawn map of where it is located in Costa Rica (12 puntos)
- Six photos/drawings of species of plants and animals, as well as their names in Spanish in medium-sized lettering (12 puntos)
- A brief description of the National Park in your own words. (8 puntos)
The poster is:
- Exceptionally attractive in terms of layout, design and neatness (5 puntos)
- Free of spelling and grammar errors (- ½ punto/cada error)
