Newsletter July 2011

Dear Parents/Guardians and Guides

Well we are nearing the end of the term and what a busy time we have had.

We finished our Wedding Challenge badge with a fantastic party.

The patrols have all had ago at organising an evening’s activities which included, treasure hunt, cooking competition’s and quizzes, well done girls you all worked well together as a team. They will be planning more evenings next term.

Now we are in the building we have also had our first cook out in Guide time. I think the girls really enjoyed it and we will certainly plan this into next term….evening in the dark!

We had our very first sleepover in the new building which I am assured by the majority of the Guides that they thoroughly enjoyed it. We are hopefully planning another two sleepovers, one in October and one in December. Details will following in the new term.

The Division ‘Family Fun Night’ on Wednesday 29th at Deben High School was a great success, we raised nearly £67.00 (making a profit of over £40.00) well done to all the Guides who helped making the teas and coffees

The best thing though was our Unit won the ‘Watson Shield’ which is a competition that has been running since 1928. Well done to the Guides in the ‘Tent Pitching’ team. Considering you only saw a Green Ridge tent for the first time the previous Saturday you all did brilliantly.

The Trimley Carnival is on 9th July, we are selling homemade cakes, temporary tattoos and a tuck shop. We need as much help as possible. We will be putting up our new event tent at about 12 noon on the Saturday – the carnival usually goes on till 4pm. The more Guides that we have the easier it becomes.

Below are dates that subs are for the rest of 2011.

07/09/2010 £15.00

(Subject to change depending of when we return in September)

02/11/2010 £15.00

Claire Allard (leader in training) is planning a camp for next year. We still require camp equipment so she has been speaking with the Guides about Fund raising events; they have all come up with some really good ideas which we hope to put into practice next term.

From all at 1st Walton Guides can I say thank you for your support and wish you a glorious summer holidays

If any time you need to discuss any issues that you have please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the team members.

Best regards

Ruth
