RESPONSIBLE FOR:Outreach Trainer, Volunteers

LOCATION:Various locations. Office is in Paddock Wood.

HOURS:26 hours a week, Monday to Thursdays

SALARY:£9.85 an hour

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • To provide, in liaison with the Training Services Manager, training as appropriate in computer use and skills to disabled clients in their own homes and within other centres throughout Kent and surrounding areas.
  • To supervise the work of Outreach Trainers and Outreach volunteers, supporting them in training and personal development
  • To record and monitor each client training session, creating session reports and dealing with other administration as appropriate
  • To advise the Training Services Manager of requests for assistance with communication aids or means of accessing computers
  • To advise and support the Training Services Manager with assessments and reassessments of clients
  • To continuously develop and maintain a flexible working knowledge of computer technology, specialist, educational and creative software and other assistive technology.
  • To regularly review educational and developmental software and other technological developments
  • To assist the Training Services Manager with the writing of external reports and other administrative duties
  • To undertake other tasks as directed by the Training Services Manager

Skills

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to ensure appointments are kept

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Able to explain technical issues in a down to earth manner

Confident and adaptable when dealing with clients

Able to work alone, be flexible in approach and maintain motivation

Music or artistic ability (desirable)

Experience

Minimum of two years’ experience in providing training or support to others

Working with disabled people

Knowledge

An understanding of disabled people’s needs, including those with acquired brain injuries and mental health issues

Knowledge of computer systems and software for use by disabled people

Awareness of the care and emotional needs of disabled people

Qualifications

Full driving licence and own car
