Local Scholarship Descriptions

Available Spring 2016

L.S. and Ernestine O. Robert Scholarship
The family of L.S. and Ernestine O. Robert has set up an endowment to provide financial assistance to a deserving student or students of the Magnet Cove School District essential for the pursuit of educational or extracurricular endeavors during the period of attendance in any grade, class, or school-approved endeavor, and to provide postgraduate assistance toward the pursuit of academic or vocational training.
Monies granted can be utilized for any purpose the committee elects which furthers a student's or students' potential to advance within the Magnet Cove School District or postgraduate academic or vocational level. Monies may be accumulated if not dispersed in a given school year. Request for assistance must be made to the selection committee, which comprises administrative staff, faculty and school counselors.

Jerry LaBeff Memorial Science Scholarship

The Jerry LaBeff Memorial Science Scholarship is a $100 award to one graduating student who excels in science courses and volunteers time for science club activities. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Kenneth Hammons Memorial Scholarship

The Kenneth Hammons Memorial Scholarship is $250 awarded to one senior, demonstrating good citizenship as shown by attendance and discipline records. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Aaron Mabry Memorial Scholarship

A $500 to a deserving student-preference will be given to those students entering an art field of study. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Coca Cola Scholarship

A $1,500 awarded to one senior with a minimum GPA of 2.75, a 19 composite score on the ACT, good attendance and leadership qualities demonstrated. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Duffie Buck Memorial Scholarship
The Duffie Buck Memorial Scholarship is a $2000 scholarshipawardedto two senior students; top math student and hardworking math student..... $1000 awarded in fall, 2dn half awarded in spring with a 3.0 GPA. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.
Allison and Steve Cook Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for students whose parents are self-employed or small business owners. Special consideration is given to those students who are involved with agricultural courses in high school. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Magnet Cove Lion’s Club Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to four graduating seniors for $500 to students with the highest GPA’s who do not have full scholarships. It is awarded to students with highest GPA who have not already received full scholarships. The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Ray D. Cook Scholarship

Awarded to students who plan to enter 4-year College or technical school.The Scholarship Selection Committee will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for local scholarships. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.

Magnet Cove GeneratingFacility/AECC Scholarship Fund

Awarded to graduating seniors of the Magnet Cove School District. Awards vary annually. Students may apply online at Arkansas Community Foundation at The Magnet Cove Generating Facility Committee (non-school related) will determine selection of students who apply and will meet in May 2016 to choose award recipients for this scholarship. The committee discusses candidates and makes selections based on student applications and individual scholarship criteria.
