Dear Spartan parent,
The band and orchestra are visiting Merrill Middle School this Friday, December 1, 2017. We perform at area elementary and middle schools as a community outreach, as a way to promote music programs in the schools, and as a way to attract students to our own Thomas Jefferson bands and orchestras. The families and students at Merrill Middle School have appreciated our outreach, and we would like to continue fostering this connection.
We will be using the RTD to travel to and from Merrill Middle School. Students and I will leave after period 2 and return in time for period 8, meaning students will miss three classes, other than the band class. If the weather is nice, we’ll eat lunch on the lawn at Merrill Middle School, and if the weather is too cold or wet, we’ll eat inside the school.
Students will need the following:
· A sack lunch
· Their instruments
· Their music
· Comfortable footwear
· A jacket for the weather
· A TJ band/orchestra polo
Itinerary
· 9:16 am - Depart
· 9:22 am - Bus 46 north
· 10:00 am – Arrive at Merrill Middle School
· 10:30 am – 1st performance
· 11:15 am – 2nd performance
· 12:15 pm – lunch
· 12:46 pm – Bus 46 south
· 1:22 pm – Arrive at TJ
Students with ‘D’s’ or ‘F’s’ may not attend. These students will be either practicing small ensemble music, or be given a written assignment.
