A. Read: Daniel 12:11 – “From the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days (1290 days)”
1) The daily sacrifice being taken away

and the Mark of the Beast

9. Are basically one and the same thing
10. Here’s why:
A. Daniel and John the Revelator both speak of the Antichrist
B. But they use different terms to describe the events surrounding is time on earth
C. Daniel speaks of the abomination; but never of the Mark of the Beast

1) Daniel says the Antichrist will:
a. Take power and set himself up as God (Daniel 11:36)
b. Make war with the saints (Daniel 7:21), and
c. Set up the abomination of desolation (Daniel 11:31)
2) In the Book of Revelation, we’re told the Antichrist will:
a. Take power and set himself up as God (Revelation 13:5-6)
b. Make war with the saints (Revelation 13:7), and
c. Set up the Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:16)
11. Throughout the ministry of Jesus on earth
12. His teaching always emphasized the spiritual or religious aspect of things
13. He refers to the rise of the Antichrist as “the abomination of desolation”
14. Which emphasizes the religious aspect of that rise to power
15. Read: Matthew 24:15 – “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoso readeth, let him understand)”
The Holy Place
1. Many Bible teachers say the holy place to which Jesus referred
2. Is the Jewish temple in Jerusalem
A. And they say that temple will be rebuilt at some point in time
B. For the Antichrist to enter into and demand worship
C. They say that will be the abomination of desolation
3. They use the words of Paul to make their case
4. Paul says that when the Antichrist is revealed, he will:
5. Read: II Thessalonians 2:4 – “Opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God; or that is worshipped; So that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God”
6. But, I believe Jesus is speaking in spiritual terms
A. That “holy place” – the “temple of God”
B. Is the human body or soul – and that’s where the Antichrist spirit will stand
C. Not a physical temple in Jerusalem
D. Read: Acts 17:24 – “God that made this world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands”
E. Read: I Corinthians 3:16-17 – “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are”
F. Read: I Corinthians 6:19 – “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you; Which ye have of God, and that ye are not your own?”
G. Jesus taught the same thing:
H. Read: John 2:19-21 – “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body”
7. Those who take the Mark of the Beast
A. Will allow the abomination of desolation
B. To stand in their holy temple – their body – their soul
C. In the place that was meant for the Holy Ghost
D. In that sense, the abomination of desolation is a religious event
E. Taking the Mark will empty out your soul – and make it void
F. It will truly be a “land of desolation” in the End Time
G. One last scripture:
H. Read: Mark 13:14 – “When ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not (let him that readeth understand”
1) It “ought not” be in the human body or soul
2) Because that’s the place meant for the Holy Spirit
