RESULTS OF THE FINAL EXAMINATION FOR THE DEGREE (Thesis/Dissertation Defense)
The final examination is often referred to as the thesis/dissertation defense. This examination covers the thesis/dissertation and also may cover directly related fields of study. A written examination may also be required at the discretion of the committee. Results of the final examination for the degree (defense pass or fail) must be submitted to the Graduate College by the posted deadline.

MANUSCRIPT APPROVAL
When the manuscript is in the final form required by the thesis/dissertation committee (all edits are complete), the student secures the signatures of the thesis/dissertation committee members and the graduate coordinator on this form, and submits the form to the Graduate College by the posted deadline.

This form is submitted to the Graduate College after both sections (defense and manuscript approval) have been fully signed by all committee members. (If a committee member is absent when final signature is needed, a proxy may sign for that person with written approval from the committee member.)

FINAL SUBMISSION TO THE OHIOLINK ELECTRONIC THESIS & DISSERTATION (ETD) SITE

The error-free copy of the thesis/ dissertation must be electronically submitted by the posted deadline. Students requiring help with this process should go to the Student Technology Assistance Center (STAC) in room 122 of Jerome Library. After students submit their manuscript, BGSU ETD personnel will publish it to the OhioLINK ETD site once cleared as “error-free.” This occurs after the overall deadline for that term’s manuscript submissions. Students may still receive an email (sent to their BGSU email address) indicating any unresolved issues prior to the manuscript’s final BGSU publication. As a result, students should continue to check their BGSU email prior to their final graduation clearance.

Students graduating with an MFA in Creative Writing should note their program’s guidelines for submitting their abstract.

Please refer to the Graduate College Thesis/Dissertation web site for additional information.
