APPLICATION FOR ENROLLMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY SPECIALIZATION

The Environmental Science and Policy Program offers an environmental policy specialization to students pursuing a graduate degree at Michigan State University. The Specialization provides students with foundational skills and knowledge in environmental law, economics and policy and an opportunity to gain substantive experience in fundament and applied environmental policy.

Requirements for the Graduate Specialization in Environmental Policy:

Complete a total of 9 credits from the following:

·  Both of the following courses:

o  AEC 829 The Economics of Environmental Resources (3)

o  PPL 807 Public Policy (3)

·  Complete 3 credits of additional environmental policy course work that meets the interests of the student. The course must be approved by the student’s academic advisor for the specialization.

·  Completion of an examination consisting of a paper on the environmental policy aspects of a problem selected by the student and approved by the advisor for the specialization.

To apply for the specialization, please fill out the attached form and include the following:

·  A letter describing your goals and interests in environmental policy.

·  A Curriculum Vitae

·  A letter of reference from your Graduate Advisor that you are in good standing in your program and the advisor supports your application to ESPP.
