STIRLING SPORTS HALF MARATHON/11KM, Sunday 15 February 2015

As you will all be aware the Stirling Sports Half / 10k is the sole reason why we are able to offer cheap club fees, subsidised trips and all the other benefits of a financially secure club. In the last few years we have been under intense pressure from other events and as a result we need to get attendance numbers up if the event is to continue to be successful.

Part of that strategy is to promote the event. If you are heading to any event where prospective runners might be take along a few flyers.

KING (PRINCE) and QUEEN of the Mountain, Wednesday 23 October

An amendment to the results in the last week’s Capers, is Isaac Gordon is Prince of the Mountain for 2014 with a time of 6:05.

RANKING LISTfrom winter season 2014. Most have seen this listing over many years butit will be new to our newer members. During the season our handicapper takes performances in almost all the races and converts (by comparison with winners and other well-performed athletes the time run and distance and course conditions) to a road 10K. He then takes a number of these races, more than three, and derives a 10K road assessment. This is the result in the left-hand table. Then using WAVA tables and the Grubb calculator which grades age and gender against a world standard for that age this assessment is converted to that run by a 25 year old male to derive the table on the right. For example he has assessed Steve Fairley at a 10K road performance of 39:10 which is equivalent on the tables to a 25 year old running 31:50. He adds that he only completed these tables last night and has not checked them yet.
