Guidelines, Requirements and Application Form

Only Affiliated World YWCA Member Associations may apply. The deadline for 2017 grants is July 15, 2017.

Projects will be considered if they promote:
The World YWCA purpose of developing the leadership and collective power of women and girls around the world to achieve justice, peace, health, human dignity, freedom and a sustainable environment for all people (World YWCA Const. Art 4).
  • at least one of the objectives of the World YWCA Strategic Frameworktaking into account the Envisioning 2035 Goal which states that:

“By 2035, 100 million young women and girls transform power structures to create justice, gender equality and a world without violence and war; leading a sustainable YWCA movement inclusive of all women”

The Fund will prioritise grants to Member Associations who:

  • Fulfil the World YWCA Conditions of Affiliation (COA) or are working towards this through upholding the World YWCA Standards of Good Management and Accountability
  • Relate their grant application to the overall strategy and long-term planning for sustainability of the Member Association.
  • Show how they will share and replicate project experiences with YWCAs and other partners.
  • Fully complete the Application Form (all requirements fulfilled), including a detailed budget.

Goals and Objectives of the 2016-2019 Strategic Framework

Young women and girls transformative leadership: Ensuring the full implementation of a human rights-based approach to young women and girls’ leadership in the context of shared, transformative and intergenerational leadership.

Realising human rights: YWCA women, young women and girls become the driving force in claiming and influencing women’s rights policies, leading change and setting global priorities for Young Women’s leadership and realising human rights.

Sustainability of the YWCA Movement: Building an effective, well governed, accountable and sustainable movement that has robust assets to sustain the work of the YWCA movement.

Grant amount: unrestricted, however the World YWCA may only be able to fund part of the total costs

As well as an annual organisational audit, successful applicants will be required to complete a project audit. This audit may be centralised through the World YWCA (i.e. the World YWCA will select a common auditor for all approved projects).

The completed application form mustinclude a detailed budget with adequate provision for a project audit and coordination/administration. The table below should help you calculate this amount:

Reporting: the Member Association will be required to sendregular narrative and financial reports according to the agreement.

Cooperation Agreement: Member Associations whose projects are approved must sign and return a cooperation agreement, which will include the project budget as an annex.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
Objective is the intended deeper lasting changes for your participants. This should be in line with the World YWCA strategic framework. If the project is successful it will contribute towards this objective but may not fully achieve it by itself or within the timeframe of the project.
Outcomeis the effect/change you expect to see in your programme. It can relate to the participants, the community or your organization. It can also be related to your national strategy. It can be material/quantitative (increased income, construction of well) and immaterial/qualitative (feeling of well-being, more leisure time, children able to play outside).
Output, in line with your national strategy, is the results of your activities. It is usually quantitative (e.g. number of young women/women trained/percentage on young women in leadership positions and in decision making roles).
Activity should relate to specific actions which are undertaken to achieve the objective. An activity has a time frame with start and end dates.
Indicatoris a measure of performance towards the achievement of planned objectives.
