DRAFT Minutes of Essington Parish Council meeting held on Monday 13th December 2010 at 7-00pm

The Chairman opened the meeting and welcomed Members..

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

Community Beat Officer David Rushton read out the Crime Statistics in the area from 9th November until 12th December 2010:

Community Beat Officer David Rushton confirmed that speed checks had been carried out on Bognop Road and Black Halve Lane,

the checks, had been inconclusive. Councillor Bryn Whitehouse commented that the speed checks need to be carried out by a police

vehicle, Community Beat Officer David Rushton confirmed that a request would have to be submitted for vehicular checks.

3. MINUTES of the last meeting on the 8th November 2010

5. Bursnip road

·  lamp post

The Chairman commented that the work had been commenced and was abandoned due to operational problems. Highways Department

planned to restart the work on the 9th December but were unable due to poor weather conditions. A start date has yet to be confirmed.

6. ESSINGTON COMMUNITY CENTRE REFUrbishment

·  Phase 5

The Chairman appraised Members on the proposed new entrance, quotation are being obtained to relocate the electrical network in the

centre of the site and also quotes for several types of restrictive bollards, these will be discussed at the next management meeting in

February 2010.

7. Planning Matters

10/00894/FUL 2 Storey side extension to form lounge & bedroom ensuite 16 Mitre Close – no objections

10/00907/FUL Rear conservatory 15 Hough Way – no objections

10/00925/COM Importing of inert brick hardcore which is screened & crushed & made available for sale to the construction industry – objections importing of materials without licence for several years – nuisance to residents – requires prosecution regarding this matter.

Notification from Staffs County Council regarding planning consent for a crossing in Wolverhampton Road.

Notification from Staffs County Council of a temporary road traffic regulation order for Wood Hayes Road Westcroft.

Notification from South Staffordshire Housing Association regarding the interest in the new development Cherry Tree Court.

A letter from Gavin Williamson MP regarding the condition of the roadway on Bursnip Road, resurfacing will take place as soon

practicable.

Notification from Staffs County Council regarding the initial consultation on local bus services in South Staffs area, the clerk will reply confirming existing levels of service must be retained.

19.30pm The Chairman left the chamber in respect of the next item and Councillor Bryn Whitehouse presided as Chairman for the duration of Councillor David Clifft absence.

11. District Councillors Report

District Councillors David Clifft and Pat Griffin discussed their reports outlining their visits, meetings and contacts during the month.

Councillor Pat Griffin confirmed a recent site meeting in Broad Lane with Highways Department regarding the condition of the

Road.

The Chairman distributed minutes of a Partnership & Strategic Services Scrutiny Panel meeting held at South Staffs Council on the 18th November 2010 when District Councillors David Clifft, Pat Griffin and Bob Cope from Featherstone Parish Council all called in a proposed development to use a site in Essington to store bottom ash from a proposed incinerator in Four Ashes.
