- filter mail-contents and reject them
- filter mails and re-direct to specific folders
- alert system-administrators of spam-mails
- re-direct mails with keywords to fax/telex
1.6 Spam control
OmniMessaging can be used to control intrusion of spam-mail and flooding of the mail-system. Corporate users are quite usually exposed to spam-attack and the mail-system may get flooded by such mails. This could prevent normal functioning of business and result in huge losses.
OmniMessaging provides users the option to set spam-control and prevent such mails from entering into the system. This can be done by setting up system-level flags or blacklisting the spam-domains/IP-addresses.
1.7 Virus-scan
OmniMessaging can be integrated with standard virus-scan solutions like Symantec to prevent virus-attacks in the system. This can be done at two levels:
- gateway
- within the server
If the virus-scan is setup at the gateway, or in user’s computer then the attachment will be scanned before delivered to the mail-server.
If the virus-scan is setup within the server, then attachments which may be virus-infected will be sent to the Virus-scanner by the server before it is delivered to the mailbox of the user.
Corporate customers can also take advantage of using both approaches, thus having one virus-scan solution at the gateway and another one within the server. This may be advantageous in cases that the latest definitions are not updated in one scan-solution.
1.8 Personal Address Books
OmniMessaging can be integrated with personal address books of standard mail-clients like Microsoft Outlook, Lotus-Notes. The address books can also be accessed using webmail-client.
1.9 Active Directory Integration
IMAP, POP, SMTP servers running on multiple physical nodes query the directory server for user information. The directory server accesses its User Database and obtains information such as home location, user profile and subscription attributes.
The Directory server supports interfaces using Server class Send, Sockets and some of the LDAP3 calls. Hence OmniMessaging can be integrated with other LDAP solutions like the one from Bowden-systems. This gives a single-seat of administration and to set access-control lists.

1.11 Message-Escalation
OmniMessaging can be used to escalate messages in event of recipients not accessing their mailbox often, or not reading their messages. In event of a critical mail being delivered and a recipient not acknowledging delivery of mail, it can be escalated to another person.
The level of escalation can be configured, and appropriate action could be taken.
1.12 Co-existence
OmniMessaging can co-exist with other mail-systems like MS-Exchange, Lotus-Notes. This is essential if within the same corporate, local-centers use different mail-servers.
1.13 Integration with all mail-clients
OmniMessaging runs on a single integrated platform, thus maximizing the platform
strengths. It supports all open-mail clients, including Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express 2000, Netscape Messenger, and QUALCOMM Eudora.
