Two Annual Heahsc Awards to Be Presented

ANNUAL NeAHSC AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED

AT THE 2015 FALL CONFERENCE

Now is your chance to nominate your outstanding employees for two awards and our newly added foster parent(s) award to be presented by the Nebraska Association of Homes and Services for Children (NeAHSC). Nominations must be received by Monday, September 28, 2015. All awards will be presented at the NeAHSC Fall Conference on Thursday, October 15th, at 9:00 a.m. at Mahoney State Park.

Lucy Nevels Child Care Worker of the Year

This award is given to a direct-care staff member that has distinguished him or herself as an outstanding employee of your organization. The winner of the award will be presented a plaque and a $50 check. Nominees must meet the following criteria:

· Is currently employed or contracted by your agency

· Has completed at least one year of service

· Provides direct care/service to children and/or families

· Goes above and beyond in their service to children and families

· Stands out from his or her colleagues in dedication and service to youth

· Leads by example

Kevin H. Orr Supervisor/Administrative Staff Member of the Year

This award is given each year to the supervisor or administrative staff member that has distinguished him or herself as an outstanding employee of your organization. The winner of this award will be presented a plaque and a $50 check. Nominees must meet the following criteria:

· Is currently employed by your agency

· Has completed a minimum of three years of service in his/her supervisory role

· Is employed as a supervisor, program director, or administrator

· Stands out from his or her colleagues in dedication and service to staff and youth

· Provides positive support & supervision to his/her colleagues

· Leads by example

Gregg and Lisa Nicklas Foster Parent(s) of the Year Award

This award is new and reflects the great work that both Gregg and Lisa Nicklas has demonstrated and their ongoing dedication to youth in foster care. Gregg left us suddenly this past year but the work that he and Lisa first began, continues today. This award is given to a foster parent or foster couple that is distinguished as an outstanding contributor to youth in foster care. The winner/s of the award will be presented a plaque and a $50 check. Nominees must meet the following criteria:

· Is currently serving foster care and supported by your agency

· Has fostered for two years or more

· Provides as a role model to foster children youth in foster care, their birth parents and the community

· Goes above and beyond in their role to children and families

· Stands out from his or her colleagues in dedication and service to youth

· Leads by example

Nomination forms/letters should be addressed to the NeAHSC Recognition Committee and must identify the nominee’s current job or service provided to children and/or families and length of service with your agency. The letter should detail how the candidate has distinguished him or herself in the performance of their job duties. Be sure to discuss the creativity this person uses in their performance, what type of role model they are, the teaching activities they are involved in, the impact they have on youth or families, their level of dedication and any other special qualities that make this individual an outstanding nominee. You may also wish to include the personal qualities that make them an asset to your agency and to the youth and families that you serve.

Please submit nominations from your agency in each category. You may wish to gather input for your nomination letter from a variety of sources, including supervisors, administrators, co-workers, or clients; however, the information should be combined into one nomination letter. The letter may be signed by more than one person as a show of support, but each person who signs the letter should explain his or her relationship to the nominee.
