QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduation from a high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.

Experience:

1)  Two years of full-time or part-time equivalent experience in computer programming, website development, and/or computer database management, or

2)  Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS college with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or

3)  Completion of 60 semester hours in a regionally accredited or NYS college, 15 hours of which are in computer science, information management, programming or microcomputer technology, or

4)  Any combination of the above.

SALARY GRADE:

Salaried position (not hourly) as per agreement.

NORMAL WORK DAY:

12 month/full year. As per agreement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of the Massena Central School District web sites to enhance communications between the district and community. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Director of Technology. Does related work as required.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

1)  Responsible for development and maintenance of all functional elements of the district websites. Monitors website usage and makes recommendations regarding site structure and organization.

2)  Confers with district staff for deployment of content.

3)  Oversees and adheres to all appropriate web and HTML policies, guidelines and standards. Maintains internal visual and technical styles.

4)  Keeps current on web technologies for possible inclusion into the web sites.

5)  Leads projects related to web-based applications and programs as required to integrate new products and features into the current online structure.

6)  Develops and maintains a comprehensive knowledge of HTML, Perl, Javascript, IIS, CSS, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Access databases.

7)  Develops and maintains a comprehensive knowledge in digital media development and production.

8)  Provides training and support to district users as related to the district web sites.

9)  Works with other technology personnel on issues of hardware/software that affect the web sites.

10)  Maintains computer system operational security to ensure confidentiality in areas of sensitive data.

11)  Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Technology.
