Ashley Park PreK-8 School equips scholars with the academic skills and habits of character to ensure their limitless potential in high school, college and beyond.

Dear Ashley Park Families,

It is hard to believe that the summer is already coming to an end and we are approaching the 2016-2017 school year! We hope that you enjoying your summer and ready to start an amazing year.

We made tremendous progress last year as well as gains in critical academic areas. We will begin this school year united and working toward the goal of even higher academic achievement in a positive, nurturing environment for every scholar. Our vision and theme this year encompasses this idea: Ashley Park PreK-8 School empowers scholars to create opportunity through meaningful relationships and high expectations. You’ll also see our mission at the top of this letter. We believe that every scholar deserves teaching and support in both academic skills and habits of character to be successful well beyond their time at Ashley Park. We have some amazing returning and new staff to help make this happen, and look forward to your help and support in our vision and mission.

This year, your scholars will be engaging in rigorous and challenging math and reading curriculum. They will be getting homework on a nightly or weekly basis, and we ask your support in checking with you scholar to ensure they are taking the time to complete their homework and getting any help that they need.

Please note some important pieces of information for our first day of school on Monday, August 29th:

·  All scholars are required to wear dress code. Our Ashley Park dress code is khaki or navy bottoms with navy or white tops. If scholars are not in dress code, they will report to the office to call home.

·  Transportation information is enclosed with this letter. It provides the morning and afternoon stops and times. Please call the school with any issues.

·  If your scholar is in Kindergarten or first grade, you will see a half-sheet enclosed in this letter with the assigned day and time for your scholar to come in, get academically tested, and learn some foundational procedures. You will also see the day they will officially start with their full class.

·  If your scholar is entering Kindergarten, please make suretheir immunizations areup-to-date. Theyneed these immunizations anda Kindergarten Health Assessment before the first day of school.

Lastly, we have our open house on Saturday, August 27th from 9 AM to 11 AM. Please come out to meet your teachers and see your scholars’ classrooms before we start on Monday! We will also have information for you on after-school programs.
