NIAAA Overview

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association is a professional organization for high school and middle school athletic administrators including approximately 10,000 members. Founded in 1977, the NIAAA’s primary service to the membership is to provide professional development opportunities. The certification program was started in 1988 and now includes four levels of certification, in which over 8,500 athletic administrators have been certified. The highly acclaimed Leadership Training Instituteconsisting of a 40 course curriculumwas launched in 1996 and now includes over 8000 courses providedannually across the United States.

Position

Part time contracted services coordinator position that will work collaboratively with a number of entities to generate quarterly issues of Interscholastic Athletic Administration magazine. This position reports to IAAPublisher and works directlywith the Publications Committee, appropriate NIAAA staff and additional providers of services.

Qualifications, Skills and Characteristics

Education and background

• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred

• CAA required. CMAA preferred.

• Experience in writing and having work published required. Past direct involvement in workingwith IAA magazine preferred.

•Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft office applications - Word, Excel and Outlook required.

• • Interscholastic athletics background as participant, coachand/or athletic director preferred.

• Experience in editing and proofreading required.

Leadership, Communication and Management

• Possesses skills necessary to lead the Publications Committeethroughout the year and keep on course for assigned work, task deadlines, author follow-up and other responsibilities.

• Able to attend National Athletic Directors Conference, and July meetings.

• Ability to work with annual calendar, action plan, committee goals.

• Ability to communicate when necessary with graphic artist, printer/mailer, Coordinator of Membership services and NIAAA staff.

• Visionary with respect for heritage of association while demonstrating openness to new ideas.

• Proven leader of team approach with strengths in working with others as a listener, empowering, positive motivator and accountability.

Personal characteristics

• Demonstrates personality and skill in positively representing the organization at all times, in all ways, to the staff, membershipand other constituents.

• History of strong personal and professional character unquestionable integrity and trustworthiness.

• Works well with others, and honors and respects diversity

• Is industrious, organized, self-motivated and promptness, organization and self-motivation

Employment Salary

• $5000 salary
