Art Walk Downtown South Bend 2017

A creative way to bring attention to downtown store fronts, increase curb appeal, and support local art.

Art Walk transforms Downtown South Bend into a walking art gallery. Artists will have the chance to display their work in downtown storefront windows, and Art Walkers will be able to enjoy local art while strolling through the downtown area. An Art Walk map listing artists and locations will be made available to the public at the August 4th opening of Art Walk, during the DTSB First Fridays.

Details & Requirements

Space
Selected artists will receive an assigned window space to utilize for their Art Walk exhibit, based on the dimensions and style of their work.

Window Arrangement
Artists are responsible for arranging their own props and backdrops according to their selected projects. Artwork will need to be viewable from the street. It will not be possible for viewers to enter the storefront space.

Signage
Artists are in charge of appropriate signage within their display. Art must be priced clearly and legibly in the storefront window along with artist contact information. Artists are encouraged to display an artist statement with their work, but this is not a requirement.

Contact Information
Artists must have at least ONE means of contact for potential buyers (phone, email, website, online store) and they must be prompt in returning communication with Art Walk consumers.

Availability
Artists MUST be available to set up and tear down their display during the designated set up and tear down times.

Legal Requirements
Participants shall comply with insurance requirements as stipulated by the building owner and or Indiana State Law.

Site Access
Program participants will be able to access the storefronts for installation, tear down, and necessary maintenance pending permission.

Open Exhibit
All program participants must have art installed sometime between Tuesday, August 1st and Friday, August 4th. Art Walk will officially open for the evening of the August First Fridays, August 4th.

Close Exhibit
The work will remain up through Saturday, August 12th. Participants must remove all their items by Tuesday, August 15th.

DTSB Marketing Support
DTSB will promote participants in our promotional materials, First Fridays website, and social media. Art Walk artists should also do their own marketing on social media as well.

Website
Participants are strongly encouraged to create an online presence in order for potential and current customers to learn about your artwork. This does not necessarily need to be a full-fledged website - a simple Facebook Page will do the trick.
