Team Manager – Good Practice

Starting salary of £28,299 + benefits + pension

Location - Wilmslow (near Manchester), Cheshire

If you have impressive management skills, ideally gained within audit, risk or project management, this unique challenge offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to help a diverse range of organisations with their information rights practices.

Your role

Helping to meet the growing demand for data security and management expertise, you’ll enable our clients to become models of data protection good practice. Our approach utilises the powers of auditing and assessment, voluntary engagement and promotion of good information rights practice. You will oversee stakeholder engagement of these services, as well as managing bespoke data protection workshops for selective audiences.

Responsible for managing and supervising a small team of Lead Auditors, your experience will enable you to promote the benefits of our free audits and advisory visits to potential clients and agree what scope areas need to be covered. Able to work autonomously and co-ordinate a number of activities at a time, your good people skills and quality focus will ensure everything runs smoothly and to deadline. Your eye for detail and excellent written communication skills will ensure the production of reports which include practical recommendations that will add real value.

Skills you’ll need

Whilst you’ll lead some larger audits, the majority of your time will be spent managing small audit teams and managing stakeholder relations for each engagement. You’ll have the ability to identify potential opportunities to engage and educate individual organisations or entire sectors. So, you must be persuasive, professional and a talented project manager with experience of leading a small team. Some national travel to attend stakeholder meetings may be required.

You should be comfortable delivering occasional presentations to represent the ICO at conferences/workshops.

Ideally with or willing to study towards a recognised professional qualification, you should also be an excellent communicator with the ability to work with a matrix management system. What’s more, you’ll need the credibility to develop good working relationships at an executive level with organisations that range from large businesses to small charities.
