MONTHLY MEETING MARCH 2, 2004

MINUTES

The Brindlee Mountain Saddle Club, held its monthly meeting Tuesday March 2,at the clubhouse on Rescue Road.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM.

In the absence of the Chaplain, Steve Criscoe led the club in prayer.

The Secretary took the roll of officer’s; all were present except Tricia McCourt, chaplain and Kevin Whisenant, trustee.

Minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.

Financial Secretary report was read and approved.

The treasurer report was read and approved. Copy attached to the minutes.

OLD BUSINESS:

The President expressed his thanks to all the members that participated in the workday on Saturday, February 7th. He also thanked Joanne for the food and drinks she provided.

The president advised at this time, 60 days had lapsed since he appointed the flower committee and at this time he is dissolving the committee. Ms Whisenant advised that she had checked with several florists and the best prices would be with Buddy’s Florist and also with Ms Riggins. The president suggested that flowers would need to be sent for funerals and fruit baskets for hospitalization.

The trail ride committee reported details are still being reviewed and after group discussion the president set a special meeting for March 22, at 7:00 PM, at the clubhouse to discuss final preparation for the trail ride on March, 27th. All members were encouraged to attend.

The BBQ committee was formed consisting of Charles Whisenant, Shirley Thomas, Ms Whisenant, Rena Whisenant and

Debora Criscoe. The committee would be responsible for preparing the BBQ dinners for the trail ride and deliver the dinners to the riders. It was decided among members the cost of each dinner would be $5 and there would be no charge for the ride, however a donation box would be provided in the event someone wanted to make a donation.

The repair committee reported repairs were progressing well, however there is a leak in our gas line that needs repair. Allgas had been requested to deliver 100 gallons of gas, before the tank was filled, the gas lines were checked and a leak was identified. The delivery person advised no gas would be put in tank due to leak. The leak would have to be repaired before gas would be delivered. The charge for allgas to repair the line would be $45 an hour, plus parts.

Steve made a motion to have the leak found and repaired. During discussion members voted to shop around for cheaper prices, and Freddie advised he would check with Lynn to see if he would be able to get a cheaper price. The motion was not seconded.

The president advised that since warmer weather is now approaching there would be plenty of time to repair the gas line before next winter.

The president advised that our first horse show is quickly approaching and that workdays would be scheduled for preparation. A list of items needed for the horse show was given to the president by Charles.

The president advised the bylaw committee had meet, reviewed and made suggestions for changes and a copy of the proposed new bylaws were given to all members present, by the secretary. The president requested the members review the bylaws and at our next monthly meeting on April 6th the new bylaws would be discussed and approved.

MINUTES

The president discussed with members, signs for the horse show sponsors. Sponsor packets we given to each member present, by Donnie.

The president advised that the building has been rented for a wedding and reception in March.

The president advised the ad for the club has been moved to the livestock section listed in the want ads. He stated this ad is working very well that he has had numerous calls from individuals inquiring about the club.

NEW BUSINESS:

The president suggested that the club place a permanent sign for the club, on 231 at Allen’s Crossroads so that it can be seen from both sides. It would help with directions and advertising. He asked members if they knew who owned the land at these sites to call them to see if we could place a sign.

The president advised members that at this time we are using personal checks for the club. He advised we should be using business checks. The business checks would be help in maintaining accurate records. Steve made a motion to go ahead and purchase the checks, seconded by Charles andmembers voted to approve getting business checks. Annette is to proceed with purchasing them.

Ms Whisenant was asked by the president if she would make armbands for the trail ride. Armbands needed; Trail Boss, 3 Scouts and Trail Master. She agreed.

The president asked for any new business from members and Charles advised that the club’s state flag has been returned from Iraq. He advised the pictures on the wall, are of Lauren with our state flag flying in Iraq. Charles suggested that we invite Lauren to our first horse show to honor her and our troops. Members agreed and Charles will contact her to see if she would agree to participate.

MINUTES

Members thanked Freddie for his donation of floor trusses, for which he saved the club lots of money.

A double sink, for our kitchen was donated by member ______( need name of member can you get his name from Freddie)

The president advised we have 2 new members present tonight. Individual membershipapplications and dues were received from Tersa Collins and Andrea Cantrell. Members voted to approve both new members.

Steve made a motion to adjourn, was seconded and meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.
