Begin Movie Maker

·  Start, All Programs, Windows Movie Maker

To Import Pictures into Movie Maker:

·  Click Tasks

·  Click Capture Video, Import pictures

·  Find the location of your files in your H drive. To import all pictures at once, click the first picture and hold down Shift key, then click last picture.

·  Click Import

·  Drag and drop pictures into Storyboard/Timeline. To capture all pictures, click the first picture and hold down Shift key, then click last picture.

Change Duration of Individual Slide

·  Click View, then, click Timeline.

·  Select the slide whose duration you want to change.

·  To extend the playback duration of a slide, drag the end trim handle toward the end of the timeline. To reduce the playback duration of a slide, drag the end trim handle toward the beginning of the timeline.

Tip: Trim handles appear as black triangles at the beginning and end of a clip. The pointer changes to a red double-headed arrow when you hold it over a trim handle.

Change Duration of Every Slide:

·  First, you must delete pictures from storyboard.

·  Then, click Tools, Options, Advanced, Picture Duration.

·  Change duration.

·  Now, re-import all pictures.

Adding Transitions:

·  Click Tasks

·  Click Edit Movie, View Video Transitions

·  Click on a transition then Play under the monitor to see a preview of what transition looks like.

·  Drag transition to the timeline and drop it between two clips on the video track OR, if you are in the storyboard view, you can drag the transition to the transition cell between two pictures.

Tip: Each transition adds 1.25 seconds. You can change the duration of all transitions. First, delete pictures from storyboard. Click Tools, Options, Advanced, Picture Duration. Change duration. Now, re-import all pictures.

Adding Music:

·  Click Tasks

·  Click Capture Video, Import Audio or Music

·  Find music in S drive

o  S:\Team Folders\Music\Music2

o  S:\Team Folders\Library\Royalty Free Music

o  Select song and Click Import

·  Drag and drop music where you want music to start.

Tip: If your song is shorter than your movie, you can add the same song.

Tip: Movie Maker accepts the following file extensions: wma (Windows Media Audio) and mp3.

Change Music Start/End Point:

·  Click the music.

·  Drag the playback indicator on the storyboard to the point in the music where you want it to start or stop playing in your movie.

Change Audio Volume:

·  Under Tools, Audio Levels. Move the slider left to lower the volume or right to increase it.

Saving Your Project (Do this often!):

·  Click File, Save Project as

·  Go to H drive, Reading Folder

·  Name File: Your Last Name Movie Maker

Credits Slide:

Include the following:

·  Your name as creator and period #.

·  Your book: Author Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. City: Publisher, Year. Print.

·  Music: include artist's name and the name of song:

o  Format: Artist Last name, First Name (if given). “Title of Song.”

o  Example: King, Ben E. "I Who Have Nothing."

·  Source for images

Final Save:

·  Finish Movie, Save to my computer

·  Name file: Your last name

·  Choose My Videos, Click next

·  Movie will be in Libraries, Videos, My Videos. You must drag and drop file from this location into your Reading folder.

Tip: If a screen for Windows Media Player opens, click recommended settings.
