JOB TITLE: Branch Accountant, TransitionProject

  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

As a branch accountant you will be working as part of a dedicated team on a transition project to develop financial systems and processes to link branches to the Central Samaritans Hub, within the timescales and budget agreed and to the business outcomes specified.

  1. POSITION IN ORGANISATION

Reports into: Finance Specialist, Transition Project

Works closely with:Finance Team, Transition Team, Senior Volunteers and Samaritans branches

Liaises with: Auditors and other external agencies

  1. SCOPE OF JOB

Supporting the implementation of a new banking system for branches

Assisting with the development of the branch treasury systems.

Assisting with the development and implementation of the branch treasurers handbook

Developing a system for Consolidating branch actuals and budgets.

Liaising with branches on any queries arising from the above and preparation of variance analysis on certain branches

Supporting Financial Due Diligence for branches applying to join the central charity

Supporting Accounts department with Month end process

Assist in budget and year end processes

General Duties of a Samaritans’ Staff Member

Supportsthe delivery of Finance aspects of the Transition Programme

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Ideally be CIMA/ACCA/ACA studier or towards the end of AAT studies

  1. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

Accountancy experience

Project management experience

Good communication skills including ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and volunteers

Strong excel skills

Planning, organisation and time management skills

Good attention to detail

Appreciation of Samaritans mission and values

Desirable

Experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage
