Individual Participation Volunteer

Task description

Office volunteers make an important contribution to Christian Aid’s work by extending the capacity of Christian Aid staff. The Individual Participation volunteer will assist the team in reporting the financial progress of campaigns, allocating income from our fundraising activity and creating approach codes on Ascent, our supporter database. You will also have responsibility for creating a ‘Guard File’ of previous campaign results, ensuring the Individual Participation team has an up-to-date and accessible source of information about recent appeals.
As a volunteer for Christian Aid you will have the opportunity to use your communication, numeracy and administration skills, and be part of a team contributing to Christian Aid’s fundraising work.
This role will make a contribution to Christian Aid’s wider work by creating more capacity within the Individual Participation team, at a time when we are expanding our activity and recruiting more regular givers.

What will I do?

  • Creating approach codes for team activity
  • Allocating SMS income each month
  • Tracking SMS responses by month
  • Daily/weekly appeal reporting
  • Assisting with invoice processing and monitoring of expenditure
  • Creating a ‘guard file’ of all campaign work

Office volunteers may work on any tasks agreed with their staff contact. However they should not take on tasks without the agreement of a member of staff and appropriate training.

What skills do I need?

  • To be enthusiastic and well-motivated, with the ability to work well in a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good numeracy skills
  • An interest in administration
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Intermediate MS Office skills – Word, Excel and Outlook

How much time can I give?

Start date – as soon as available.
The role is for 2days per week on an ongoing basis.

  • Individual support and supervision from a named contact within Christian Aid, including one-to-one sessions.

  • Quarterly volunteer e-newsletter.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses.

Are there any other requirements?

  • You will need to be in sympathy with Christian Aid’s values and vision.
  • You will need to live within reasonable travelling distance of Christian Aid’s head office in Waterloo.
