A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE DR. ROBERT GREENLEE HUDSON, PROFESSOR AT PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE IN CLINTON, FOR HIS INVALUABLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCIENCE COMMUNITY AND FOR BEING NAMED THE 2003 TEACHER OF THE YEAR AT PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE.

Whereas, Dr. Robert Greenlee Hudson, a professor in the Biology Department at Presbyterian College since 1975, was named the Charles A. Dana Professor of Biology; and

Whereas, Dr. Hudson received a Bachelor of Science degree from Campbell College and attended North Carolina State University, where he received a Master of Science and Ph.D.; and

Whereas, Dr. Hudson specializes in aquatic biology, aquatic toxicology and freshwater mussel culture, ecology, vertebrate zoology, and genetics. His research in aquatic toxicology and freshwater mussel culture has attracted particular interest; and

Whereas, as a consultant to the Tennessee Valley Authority, Dr. Hudson has helped develop an artificial medium to grow endangered freshwater clams in a laboratory environment and developed tests for freshwater toxicity levels using mussels; and

Whereas, Dr. Hudson is not only an intelligent professor of Biology, but is a man who is loved by his students and other faculty members. In 1986, he was honored with Presbyterian College’s Alumni Distinguished Teaching Award, and in 2003, he was named Professor of the Year; and

Whereas, Dr. Hudson is active in the Clinton Community as a member of the School Improvement Board at Clinton Elementary School and has served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at First Baptist Church; and

Whereas, it is appropriate that the House of Representatives extol individuals such as Dr. Robert Greenlee Hudson who have made contributions to shaping the minds of the future leaders of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Dr. Robert Greenlee Hudson, Professor at Presbyterian College in Clinton, for his invaluable contributions to the science community and for being named the 2003 Teacher of the Year at Presbyterian College.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Robert Greenlee Hudson of Clinton.
