Texas Gatorfest is a weekend of family fun, food and entertainment awaiting you at historic Fort Anahuac Park. Come witness the Great Texas Alligator Roundup, take an airboat ride or river boat tour; enjoy live entertainment at the waterfront beer garden, and enjoy local merchant shopping. The 2013 Festival is scheduled for September 12 -15, 2013.
On Saturday, September 14th, as part of the festival, we will host the Gator Run, a scenic motorcycle tour through Chambers County. The ride will benefit the non-profit organization, Emma’s Hugs, as well as support local scholarships.
In the summer of 2008 Emma Dunnam was diagnosed with Batten Disease, a fatal neurodegenerative condition resulting in blindness, seizures, mental impairment, loss of motor skills, and speech. There is currently no cure or treatment. Emma lost her battle with Batten Disease one month shy of her fourth birthday, in February 2010.
Emma’s father, Kelvin Dunnam, spent significant amounts of time at MD Anderson Cancer Center with his father during the winter of 2008. Upon leaving the hospital one day, a patron paid his parking fees. After Emma’s diagnosis, the Dunnams wanted to memorialize the time in Emma’s life before Batten Disease limited how much she would laugh, play and give big hugs. Being so appreciative of the kind gesture, they decided to “pay it forward” and do the same for others in Emma’s name, which led to the founding of Emma’s Hugs. Since their inception in 2009, Emma’s Hugs has given over 14,000 days of parking to families with long-term patients in the Texas Medical Center. For more information about Emma’s Hugs, please visit the website, www.EmmasHugs.com.
Benefits of sponsorship would include your business name in the Gatorfest flyer, local newspaper coverage, and billing on the Gator Run t-shirts. The motorcycle ride includes door prizes, drawings, and a chance to make new friends and explore Chambers County from the best seat in the house. Any donation you are able to provide and help “pay it forward” alongside this awesome charity will be greatly appreciated by many. All donations made to Gatorfest Gator Run are tax deductible.
On behalf of Gatorfest and Emma’s Hugs, we thank you for your consideration.
