Music for the Gathering of the Worshipers

My Shepherd Will Supply My Need arr. John Carter

Gathering Song

Here in This Place Hymn No. 401, Stz. 1

Here in this place the new light is streaming,

now is the darkness vanished away.

See in this space our fears and our dreamings

brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken;

gather us in, the blind and the lame;

call to us now, and we shall awaken,

we shall arise at the sound of our name.

Call to Worship

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you as the day rises to meet the sun.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Come, let us sing to the Lord

let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.

+Opening Prayer

Let us pray. Lord, you bring the dawn and the start of a new day.

We thank you for watching over us and bringing us safely to this

new morning. Each new day is a gift filled with rich possibilities.

Let us be fully alive today, with eyes open and ears attentive to all

that you want to share with us.

In this time of worship, fill us with love.

Then, all the day through, let us live in your Spirit. Open our hearts

to care for one another. Help us to greet you in all the people we meet.

And as we come to know and care for each other more deeply, draw us

ever nearer to yourself. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Psalm

Psalm 77:14-16, 19-20

You are the God who works wonders

and have declared your power among the peoples.

By your strength you have redeemed your people;

the children of Jacob and Joseph.

The waters saw you, O God; the waters saw you and trembled;

the very depths were shaken.

Your way was in the sea, and your paths in the great waters,

yet your footsteps were not seen.

You led your people like a flock

by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

The Word of the Lord

Lead us, Good Shepherd, through the waters,

be the rock on which we stand.

Creator, Word, and Spirit one.

Alleluia, alleluia!

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Intercession

Satisfy us with your love in the morning,

and we will live this day in joy and praise. (Ps. 90:14)

Mighty God of Mercy, we thank you for the resurrection dawn

bringing the glory of our risen Lord who makes every day new.

Especially we thank you for

the beauty of your creation…

the new creation in Christ and all gifts of healing and forgiveness…

the sustaining love of family and friends…

the fellowship of faith in your church…

Individual prayers of thanksgiving may be offered.

Merciful God of might, renew this weary world, heal the hurts of all your children,

and bring about your peace for all in Christ Jesus, the living Lord.

Especially we pray for

those who govern nations of the world…

the people in countries ravaged by strife and warfare…

all who work for peace and international harmony…

all who strive to save the earth from destruction…

the church of Jesus Christ in every land…

Individual prayers of intercession may be offered.

Eternal God, our beginning and our end, be our starting point and our haven,

and accompany us in this day’s journey. Use our hands to do the work of your

creation, and use our lives to bring others the new life you give this world in

Jesus Christ, Redeemer of all.

Amen.

+The Lord’s Prayer

As God’s children let us pray as Christ taught us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts

as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

+Blessing

God of the Ages, through your ancient prophets and disciples, your saints of old,

and your Spirit, you have told us what is good – to do justice, to love kindness,

and to walk humbly with you. Help us stand on you, our Rock of salvation,

for all other ground is sinking sand. Amen

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
