PRICING GUIDELINES

This guide is intended to give you tips and ideas for pricing items to put more $$$ in your pocket while not taking your items back home. You are certainly welcome to price your items as you choose but here are a few things to consider:

1.  The most important factor is the type of people who shop at consignment sales…people who do not want to pay full price or people who cannot afford to purchase new clothes.

2.  There are only a certain number of people who will even be interested in your particular item and if your item is not priced right, then you will be taking it back home with you.

3.  When selecting your price, think of the very least you would consider taking for it and that should be your price. If you can’t take half that amount, then do not mark the half price box. Do not let the half price issue affect your regular selling price because it simply makes the regular selling price too high.

4.  Consider this a great opportunity to clean out closets and kid’s rooms. Purge! Do not let your time and energy go to waste by not selling everything you put in the sale. Price it to sell!!!

5.  Look around while you’re selling, you’ll probably see quite a few things you’d like to purchase. And since you’ve just cleared out those closets and made some extra cash, this could work out very nicely for you.

6.  When buyers come to the sale and get great bargains, they are going to tell their friends. The success of the Lil’ Lambs Sale has always depended on a good turnout of shoppers. Because we give them the bargains that they want, with the quality they expect, we continue to grow with each sale. Thank you for growing with us.

7.  Consider donating your unsold/declined items, they will go to a local children’s charity and you will get the tax write off without the extra pick up and drop off.

* Items must be priced at $1 or above, in half-dollar increments. Lower priced items should be grouped together and sold as one item. In general, 40% of the new price is a fair amount to charge for a used item in excellent condition, 30% if in good condition. However, you should keep in mind that newer models may be more interesting, or have more features and may sell before yours does. Another factor may be brand name as some consumers specifically search for their favorite brands and these may be in higher demand. Most of all, use common sense and detach sentimental value, how much would you pay for the item?
