HA1606 review
I’m not going to get into any thing technical about this model or any model for that matter. I’m looking for something that is visually appealing, a good paint and markings application and parts that fit well. Just the general things most average collectors will look for and appreciate. I’ll leave any technical points of view up to others.
Once again Hobby Master thought outside “the box” and made a great model of an aircraft that isn’t from the usual countries, Kuwait. If you are looking for a model plane with lots of metal then this Hobby Master Mirage 2000 is for you. Just about everything on this model is metal; even the landing gear is metal. The only exceptions are the canopy, weapons, re-fuel probe and display stand.
The canopy can be displayed open or closed by interchanging two parts of crystal clear plastic. The cockpit is one of the better I have seen. It has all the nice touches and features of the real plane. The only thing missing is a pilot but Hobby Master is developing various scale pilots representing many countries.
The model comes with eight missiles and a center-line tank but the tank can’t be used if you want to display the model on the display stand that is provided.
The desert camo paint scheme has to be one of the most appealing. It definitely stands out without being gaudy and makes a nice change from the usual blues and greys. The paint is superb and the markings flawless.
All the add-ons, weapons landing gear can be added or removed quite easily and there are no signs of unsightly gaps. This is one finely manufactured model of one of the nicest looking planes to take to the sky. The Mirage 2000 is one plane that you just can’t have too many of, especially with this great paint scheme.
