Job Title Events Manager

Reporting to Head of Community and Events

Location Angel, Islington

Hours Full time: 37.5 hours (5 days) per week

Salary £29-32k per annum

Annual Leave 25 days plus public holidays

Reports Events Coordinator

Key Relationships Director of Fundraising, Individual Giving Manager, Community Fundraisers, Supporter Care Assistant and Communications team

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  To manage a portfolio of fundraising events with a focus on maximising income from challenge, mass participation and special events, including budget setting and achievement of agreed income targets

·  To work closely with the Head of Community and Events as part of the Community and Events team on maximising income from these areas

·  To manage and mentor the Events Coordinator to help them achieve their goals

·  To deputise for the Head of Community and Events when required

·  To contribute proactively as a member of the wider fundraising team to help maximise fundraising opportunities in all areas

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Challenge Events

·  To develop and manage a portfolio of sponsored active events, providing excellent supporter care to event participants across a wide range of events

·  To deliver participant management programmes to maximise participants' enjoyment from events and income for the organisation

·  To proactively seek opportunities to develop our portfolio of events likely to attract support and generate substantial income

·  Working with the Head of Community and Events, to drive new initiatives to meet growth targets in event fundraising

·  To work and negotiate with external partners and event companies to deliver events

·  To ensure that events are well marketed and all avenues for promotion have been explored

·  To market events online through the use of Google ads and social media

2.  The Ovarian Cancer Walk

·  To manage and develop the Ovarian Cancer Walk including successful promotion and recruitment of walkers and ensure smooth running of the events by managing events companies and volunteers

·  To identify and research new promotional opportunities and maintain and develop existing relationships

·  To ensure accurate participant information is recorded on the database and report on the progress of recruitment and fundraising

·  To work with the Community Fundraiser to recruit and manage volunteers

·  To manage effective stewardship with participants through clear communication cycles

·  Working with the Digital Communications Manager, to ensure content promoting the Ovarian Cancer Walk and other challenge events is maintained on the website and social media

·  To liaise with suppliers, as required, negotiating prices where appropriate.

3.  Special Events

·  To manage and develop a portfolio of special events and stewardship events, including comedy nights, balls and the annual supporters reception

·  To provide excellent supporter care to third party led special events, working with the Director of Fundraising and Individual Giving Manager on major donor and legacy events

·  Identifying opportunities to develop new events and maximise income from this area

·  To ensure all Target Ovarian Cancer events are organised to a high standard ensuring that women with ovarian cancer remain at the centre of what we do

4.  General

·  To work closely with other teams in the organisation including the Communications Team to ensure coverage of events and individuals and the Supportive Services team to ensure good communication with women with ovarian cancer.

·  To provide recruitment and financial reports for the Head of Community and Events

·  To seek new ways of generating income and to actively network outside of the organisation to ensure we keep abreast of latest event trends and best practice

·  To champion Events Fundraising and the relationships we have with our supporters within all levels of the organisation

·  To put the supporter at the heart of all we do

5.  Other Duties

·  To help out at fundraising events from time to time

·  To work closely with other members of the Fundraising team to provide data and leads to help them fundraise

·  To develop an in depth knowledge of ovarian cancer and understanding of Target Ovarian Cancer’s work

·  To keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and comply with relevant legislation

·  To act as an ambassador for the Fundraising team and the charity as a whole both internally and externally

·  To travel on a regular basis, as required within the UK to fulfil the role. To be prepared to undertake some anti-social working hours and overnight stays.

·  To undertake any other assignments within the Fundraising department and wider organisation as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications / ·  Degree or equivalent / ·  Fundraising or marketing qualification
·  Project management qualification
Experience: / ·  Knowledge and experience of charity fundraising
·  Significant experience of event management
·  Experience in event marketing
·  Successful track record in managing, supporting and developing supporters, staff & volunteers
·  Experience in negotiating contracts with suppliers and agencies
·  Demonstrable experience and understanding of events fundraising
·  Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and project manage work
·  Proven ability to create and manage income/expenditure budgets and KPI’s to deliver appeals/events within defined budgets / ·  Knowledge of issues relating to ovarian cancer
·  Experience of working for a small charity
·  Experience of corporate fundraising
·  Knowledge of Fundraising/Charity Law and Codes of Conduct/Best Practice
·  Experience of Raisers Edge
