MARY L. REINER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:

“Rising Stars in Research and Public Health”

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to American Indian college students interested in becoming researchers and future leaders in public health.

Eligibility: Applicants must be members of federally recognized tribes (with preference given to tribal members in the Northern Plains – North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa), be enrolled in an accredited health and/or science program, have completed a minimum of one academic year of their current program of study, and have earned at least a 3.0 GPA (on 4.0 scale).

Completed scholarship application.

Copy of tribal ID or proof of enrollment.

Copy of transcript(s) (unofficial transcripts accepted).

Personal Statement which addresses: How you became interested in health and/or science; details of past experiences and future goals; commitment to completing degree and working to improve the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives; and a statement of financial need explaining how this scholarship will help you pursue your goals in the health-related field and help you succeed in your degree program.

Two Letters of Recommendation: Two recommendation letters are required and should come from someone who can speak to your academic and/or extracurricular accomplishments, such as a counselor or instructor.
