ACT/PSAT/SAT Information
ACT
· Students should take twice--- once their Junior year (Spring) and once their Senior year (fall) (57% do better on their second test)
· Available in two versions: No Writing ($35) and Plus Writing ($50.50)
o Go to www.actstudent.org and click on “The Writing Test: Do I need to take it?” to find out if a college requires the writing portion (for example, Wright State does not require the writing portion).
· Scores of 22 (Math), 21 (Reading), and 18 (Writing) will test a student out of having to take Sinclair’s Accuplacer.
· Free test prep app for IPhone: “ACT Student”
o Other apps for IPhone and Android are also available (such as ACT for Dummies) (some charge may apply)
· Practice with the ACT Question of the Day at www.actstudent.org
· Fee waivers are available for students on free and reduced lunch (students should see their counselors). These students also get waivers for college application fees.

PSAT
· Should be taken by all college-prep Juniors and advanced sophomores and freshmen as practice for future high-stakes testing.
· Will be given at Fairmont on Wednesday morning, October 17th.
· Scores on this test allow students to become National Merit Scholars, and students receive detailed score reports that assist in preparation for future testing.
· Registration will take place September 20th – September 26th in the treasurer’s office.
· The cost is $18 (cash or check made payable to Kettering City Schools)
· A limited number of fee waivers are available for those on free and reduced lunch (first come, first served).
SAT

· Sign up for daily SAT question emails at http://sat.collegeboard.org/practice/sat-question-of-the-day
