INTS Area Studies Advising Worksheet (circle one: Asia, Africa, CLAS, Middle East, Russia/Eurasia)
Name: ______
This worksheet must be filled in when the major is declared, signed by the director, and submitted to Jen Fichera in McCook 202, who will then provide copies for the student, the student’s advisor, and the director.
No more than three credits earned away from Trinity’s Hartford campus may be counted toward the ten-credit major. The Global Core course and all required courses at the 300-level or above must be taken at Trinity.
Global Core* (one credit):
- ______
*All Global Core courses either originate in INTS or are cross-listed (not cross-referenced) with INTS. For questions about what counts as a Global Core course, please contact the Director.
Area courses* (five credits, at least one at the 300-level or above):
- ______
- ______
- ______
- ______
- ______
*Some area concentrations have distribution requirements for their area courses. The courses that count toward these requirements are normally listed in the Bulletin. However, as course offerings change every semester, be sure to check with the concentration coordinator or Director when in doubt.
Electives* (three credits):
- ______
- ______
- ______
*Electives may consist of area courses from any of the area studies majors, additional Global Core courses, or language courses in excess of the four semester requirement.
Senior Seminar (INTS401): ______
Optional one-semester honors thesis: ______
Language* (four semesters):
- ______
- ______
- ______
- ______
*All INTS majors are required to complete a minimum of four semesters of a single language after matriculating to Trinity. Area studies majors must choose among the languages approved for their concentration. One semester (or one summer) of intensive language acquisition on a study away program counts toward this requirement as a single semester, regardless of the number of credits earned. Language courses beyond the four semester requirement may count toward the INTS major as electives or, in some cases, as area courses, but work up to that point does not count toward the ten-credit major.
Study abroad*: ______
*INTS majors are required to complete at least one semester (or summer) of college-level study outside of the United States, typically by completion of an accredited study away program selected with the aid of International Studies faculty and the Office of International Programs staff. In certain cases, students may, in consultation with their International Studies advisor, fulfill this requirement by completing a course with a community learning component or a globally inflected internship in the United States.
