Collegiate 4-H Meeting Minutes

January 28th, 2016

WSLR 116, 6:00 p.m.

Call to order and Welcome: Cassie Lehmann,

Pledges:

·  Pledge of Allegiance: Brock Neff

·  4-H Pledge: David Peterson

Treasurer’s Report – Gabrielle Teter,

·  Current Balance: $3,349.28

·  $10 a semester or $15 for the whole year

·  If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, fleece, or polo, please contact Gabby

o  The due date for fleece/polo orders was 1/28

·  If writing a check, make payable to Purdue Collegiate 4-H

Mini-Murdock:

·  The club decorated paper bags and filled them with trail mix, which is an activity that the club will be doing with the kids at Murdock for Valentine’s Day. If you are interested in helping with Murdock contact Molly or Kendall!

New Business:

Ag Council Report – Maddie McFadden,

·  The Hot Chocolate Social was last week, and the club handed out Andes Mints to students. If anyone has any feedback about the event in general, let Maddie or Cassie know

·  Ag Week! April 11th – 15th. More details about Collegiate 4-H involvement to come!

o  Collegiate 4-H has representatives attending Ag Task Force meetings. At the most recent meeting, a guest speaker discussed GMOs.

o  We are currently in the process of applying for a grant to help cover costs associated with being involved with Ag Week

Officer Training Report – Emily Grimm,

·  There was an Area XI officer training on 1/27 that was a lot of fun. There were 25 kids in attendance.

·  Hendricks County – 2/2/16 leaving at 5:45 pm (Time Change from last time)

·  Miami County – 3/22/16 leaving at 5:15 pm

·  4-H Grows Workshop – 2/6/16 at 10 am

o  This unique opportunity allows Collegiate 4-H to help teach 4-H leaders, judges, and volunteers valuable leadership skills and about officer trainings.

o  Contact Emily if you are interested in volunteering for this event

·  On the radar is Monroe County and Fountain County

·  Note: We do have snow dates lined up as well, if a training gets snowed out Emily will contact you to let you know! The snow date is listed on Volunteer Spot.

Murdock Report – Molly Towns, & Kendall Gatewood,

·  A group leaves campus at 2:45 pm and returns to campus around 4:15pm every Thursday. Spring semester Murdock started January 21st!

·  Last week we made magnets, this week paper bag puppets, and next week paper lanterns!

Social Report – Josh Schonfeld,

·  Wallyball Coed team plays Thursdays at 8:45 pm; Women’s team plays Wednesdays at 9:45 pm. Come out and play or cheer us on! One week left before tournament starts!

·  The women’s team won on Wednesday (YAY!!)

·  Must be a dues paying member to play

QPR – Suicide Prevention Training – registration information available

·  Many sessions available to attend, each lasting two hours

·  Not an annual certification, if you’ve completed in the past – you’re good!

·  Contact Cassie if you are interested in participating in this training

Indiana Academic Decathlon Competition Judges – information available

·  Contact Lisa Duncan,

·  Held on Purdue’s Campus on Friday, February 12th

·  Contact Cassie if you have questions

Purdue Collegiate 4-H Constitution Revision

·  Sara Holderbaum motioned that the constitution revision be accepted by the club

·  Abby Hunnicutt seconded the motion

·  The motion was passed by 2/3 vote by dues paying members

·  BOSO will review the constitution, then they may become the official bylaws

Thank-A-Thon

·  The thank-a-thon was held in the main 4-H office and involved Collegiate 4-H members calling 4-H scholarship and conference donors. The donors appreciated hearing from the youth who benefited from their donations and the Chic-Fil-A was delicious!

Meeting Dates for 2015-2016

·  All meetings will be held biweekly from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in WSLR 116. The upcoming dates are as follows:

o  February 11th, February 25th, March 10th, March 24th (Officer Elections for 2016-2017), April 7th, April 21st (Banquet in Food Science Building 1215)
