Dear Parents / Carers

As you are hopefully aware your child is entitled to Pupil Premium funding as they either currently or have previously qualified for free school meals.

We primarily use the funding to ensure your child makes good academic progress and attains in-line with their peers. This may be through in-class support, intervention work or 1:1 tuition.

However, there are occasions when we have funding that can be spent on additional activities such as:

  • Funding for trips - day trips or residential
  • Instrument lessons with Berkshire Maestros
  • Instrument hire to enable Y4 pupils to take their instrument home to practise
  • Access to our Parent Support Advisor
  • Swimming lessons in the Summer Term; to include a week’s crash course during the summer holidays if wished
  • Homework Club
  • Opportunities to buy uniform from the 2nd hand uniform sale or new if none available
  • Access to school holiday clubs including the Literacy Summer Camp that was offered this year
  • Access to paid clubs in school
  • Milk

We would also consider other options based on the pupil’s needs and circumstances. If you are interested in any of the opportunities listed above, please return the slip below, contact me via the office or email me at

This academic year we have decided to introduce ‘Pupil Premium Champions’. A Pupil Premium Champion is a member of staff often well known to the pupil. The Champion’s role is to provide academic and wellbeing support for your child. They have been asked to support pupils as required and look out for barriers that may prevent your child achieving their best whilst at Loddon Primary.

As the members of staff are often working in classes with pupils, we have not used the label Pupil Premium Champion with the children up to now. However we would like to explain a little more about the work being completed to the children, so that we can make this work effectively for all involved. I am writing to request that you consent to sharing information with your child.

Please would you complete the slip overleaf and return to school as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Gemma Didcock
