Who made the Twenties roar?

I Search Project

What’s an “I Search Project?”

An I Search is when you, the student, select the person you will research, generate the research questions and conduct the research.

How do you do this?

You will select a person from the 1920s to research. Think about how this person contributed to American culture and society – what did this person do and why do we remember them?

What will the finished product look like?

You will answer the questions that you have generated and by doing this you will write a short research paper. The paper will be long enough to answer the questions you have generated, probably two to three pages long. You will follow the writing process and produce a rough draft, edit and revise the draft and finish with a final or publication copy. The paper will have one-inch margins and be typed in Times New Roman size 12 font. Your paper will also have a bibliography in MLA format.

Why are you doing this – what’s the purpose?

You are doing this for a few reasons:

·  To explore the people who made the 1920s roar;

·  To explore how people influence their society;

·  To navigate your way through the research process;

·  To create a Primary Access Documentary or a Commemorative Stamp about your person: and

·  To share your new knowledge with your classmates at a 1920s Brunch.

Expectations:

This is what you are expected to do:

·  Follow all directions!

·  You may not go on to step two until you have completed step one!!

·  The Primary Access or commemorative Stamp will not be started until your research paper is finished.

·  You are being graded on all parts of he research process – the understanding you demonstrate in the I Search paper is very important as is your Primary Access Documentary or Commemorative Stamp but you will accrue points all along the way – it is very important that you demonstrate understanding of the entire research cycle.

The person that I would like to research is:

______.

The reason that I selected this person is:

______.

These are some of the things that I am wondering about this topic:

1.  ______.

2.  ______.

3.  ______.

4.  ______.

5.  ______.

6.
