Position: SHIP TA Center Communications and Technology Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt

Reports to: SHIP TA Center Director Date: 10/26/15

Supervises: N/A

Position Summary:

Assist the SHIP TA Center director with managing, developing, disseminating, and/or reviewing the large volume of documents, communications, promotional materials, PowerPoints, and manuals being produced by the SHIP TA Center. Also responsible for assisting SHIP TA Center director with management of SHIP TA Center website content, including content updates, content creation, system maintenance, and user support. Responsible for developing and managing the SHIP TA Center’s newsletter and SHIP TA Center news listserv.

Job Responsibilities:

·  Develop, copyedit, and/or disseminate professional communications to the SHIP network

·  Develop, copyedit, and/or review SHIP TA Center produced documents, communications, promotional materials, manuals, and reports produced for the SHIP national network, ensuring they are of a high professional quality

·  Assist the SHIP TA Center director in developing, managing, and organizing SHIP TA Center online content, seeking input from center staff, center partners, and SHIPs, as appropriate

·  Ensure the SHIP TA Center’s online content remains current, accurate, professional, and appropriate for the needs of the SHIP network

·  Produce SHIP TA Center periodic newsletter/s, including writing articles and soliciting articles from SHIPs, other Center staff, ACL, and national partners, as needed

·  Solicit contributions from SHIPs for the online SHIP resource library

·  Participate in SHIP TA Center webinars, including presenting, as appropriate

·  Ensure SHIP TA Center technology is functioning properly, to include all online tools (website, online certification tools, online training tools, surveys, animated videos, etc.), working with SHIP TA Center subcontractors, as needed

·  Ensure that the SHIP TA Center stays up to date on national training and technology trends related to the SHIP TA Center’s scope, including learning to use and/or assisting the SHIP TA Center to adopt new technologies, as appropriate (two examples include animated videos or YouTube videos)

·  Assist SHIP TA Center Program Coordinator with customer service via the SHIP TA Center toll-free number and SHIP TA Center general email inboxes

·  Work collaboratively with the centers team to improve the services provided by each center

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·  Exceptional writing skills in English

·  Excellent oral communication skills in English

·  Excellent skill and experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.

·  Ability to master use of Microsoft Publisher

·  Ability to master Microsoft Outlook

·  Ability to master other complex computer software, particularly the SHIP TA Center’s website
content management system

·  Strong organization skills

·  Excellent attention to detail

•  Ability to read, research, and understand complex legal, health care, and government publications, including memos, journals, websites, and other media

·  Strong interpersonal skills to relate to diverse cultures

·  Maintain a positive working relationship with NEI3A staff, subcontractors, vendors, and the public

Required Qualifications:

·  Bachelor degree in Business, Communications, Education, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or related degree that requires significant research and writing

·  At least two year’s work experience in a field requiring skills related to this position.

·  Experience using Microsoft Office

·  Demonstrated writing skills (a writing sample is required for interview)

Physical Demands:

•  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data or process information.

·  Employee in this position must be willing to attend out of state meetings requiring long-distance car or air travel, up to twice annually.

·  Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
