Northwest Missouri State University Pet Policy Roommate Agreement
You are currently assigned to a room with a roommate who has requested to bring a pet into your apartment. As a result, we want to ensure that all residents of the apartment are aware of the animal residing in your apartment. There is no expectation that roommates care for or attend to the animal. The sole responsibility of the animal and its safety are placed on the resident who has received the approval to bring the animal into the apartment.
Each apartment may only have two “non-caged” animals (dog or cat) and up to three “caged” animals (small bird, hedgehog, hamster, gerbil, turtle, and guinea pig). However, in no case will an individual RESIDENT be approved for more than one pet. In other words, pets will not outnumber the amount of residents living in an apartment unit.
Roommate Acknowledgement
I agree to allow ______to bring her/his ______to reside with us in our Forest Village Apartment.
By my signature below, I understand that I will share the common areas of my apartment with the animal approved by this agreement. Should I have any concerns regarding the care and control of the approved animal, or believe that policies and expectations are not being met, I will discuss my concerns with the approved animal’s owner. If we cannot reach an agreement, I will contact the Forest Village Apartment Hall Director for further mediation or intervention.
