PRINCIPLES FOR RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT EDUCATION (PRME)

Principle 1. Purpose: We will develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large and to work for an inclusive and sustainable global economy.

Principle 2. Values: We will incorporate into our academic activities and curricula the values of global social responsibility as portrayed in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact.

Principle 3. Method: We will create educational frameworks, materials, processes and environments that enable effective learning experiences for responsible leadership.

Principle 4. Research: We will engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding about the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental and economic value.

Principle 5. Partnership: We will interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges.

Principle 6. Dialogue: We will facilitate and support dialogue and debate among educators, business, government, consumers, media, civil society organizations and other interested groups and stakeholders on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability.

Institute of Productivity & Management, an institute which facilitates knowledge with contemporary management practices by impinging professional values. It grooms management professionals with strong leadership skills along with a strong dedication to promote a research oriented environment for the upliftment & sustainability of best management practices.

To strengthen the foundations, Institute of Productivity & Management signed the UN Global Compact. From there itself, IPM adhered to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), the UN Global Compact initiative dedicated to academic institutions. It is a matter of great previlige for us to be part of UN Global compact & PMRE. At IPM, all our efforts are inclined at building a long term commitment towards PMRE Principles. We will remain committed to our values & will continuously endeavour to become a better & responsible entity.

The initiatives we have taken are intended to bring sustainable development in all the concerned areas. This report includes just some of the initiatives Institute of Productivity & Management has undertaken to further the Global Compact principles.

IPM – UDAAN

Udaan, the initiative IPM Ghaziabad started with an aim to give a child a new beginning, to make one realize that the dreams can be turned into reality & one can fly high in the sky and fulfill his/her dreams.

As a part of curriculum our students study a lot about social responsibility. Being responsible management institute we not only take it as a part of curriculum but we truly understand & report to the necessities of being a responsible organization. Below is a summary of initiatives taken so far and what is planned in order to achieve further advances.

·  Students of IPM, Ghaziabad visited schools situated at Morta and Duhai, villages in the vicinity of our institute. It was meant for giving a needy child the hope for a better future. Books and stationeries were distributed to the children .The gifts of books and pencil provided a needy with access of education. We are moving ahead with the hope of adding vitality to one’s life so that, a needy child can look forward to future of dignity & hope.

At IPM, the journey for a better tomorrow is never ending. We not only dream, but we dare to turn things into realty & this is what makes us to move higher & higher.

OUR FUTURE PLANS

·  To provide handholding support by the means of imparting basic education to the needy children. Providing children with additional classes in order to make up for the lack of quality education. To equip a school with sports materials like footballs, volley balls etc, to ensure that the children are well on their way towards a delightful childhood.

·  To make PRME a part of student’s orientation session.

·  Compulsory projects for students related to social issues.

·  To organize seminars, guest lectures on critical issues pertaining to global social responsibility and sustainability.

·  To conduct seminars & workshops on the PRME for faculty members and students.

·  The foundation of Green initiatives has already been laid down and is further going to gain momentum under ‘Paryavaran’ a segment strongly dedicated towards saving the Planet earth. The purpose of the initiative is to raise the awareness of the faculty and of future managers of environment related issues.

·  To incorporate PRME in IPM’s Newsletters.

·  Active Participation in the PMRE conferences.

·  To ensure the inclusion of issues related to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, human rights and environment responsibility in the course curriculum.
